    Easter week-end in Lockdown

I'm sure this Easter won't be like any we've had before. How are you spending it? What do you usually do around Easter? Any memorable Easters from years gone by?

I'm hoping the sun is out for Easter Week-end so I can enjoy my Sunday roast alfresco usually John and I would have gone to DDs house and I would have cooked a large leg of lamb for the family and enjoy seeing my GGCs who would have popped in for an Easter egg hunt I haven't bought any eggs for the little ones but donated £s to Alderhey Childrens hospital appeal and when this is all over I will treat the little ones to a special day out.

We have no set in stone traditions, but we do always get together at some point over the Easter weekend either here or at DD2s. We do Easter egg hunts for the children. This year of course we would have been sunning ourselves by the pool in Florida.
American Easter eggs are rubbish though, so every cloud!

Easter Sunday we, (siblings & spouses)
would have been meeting at my brother's for lunch. My brother's friend would have been there too. The one who sadly lost his father this week.

I've got all the easter eggs & chocolate bits in my wardrobe waiting for the day I can give them to my family. I've sent money to GC's mummies to buy some so they have them for the day. I doubt we'll do anything special or different for that day. If we get bored I can always organise an egg hunt in our garden for the two of us.😉

We haven't got any set in stone traditions either. When our sons were young I used to do the whole spring-cleaning thing the week before, the boys would have new outfits and we'd do something special - usually dictated by the weather. If Easter was very late it would include DS2's birthday as well. For me, it always felt like waking up after the long dreary winter, and I loved it.

We've got nothing planned for this week-end (there's a surprise!) and there's no point in making a Simnel cake like I usually do as OH doesn't like it and I'd be forced to eat it all myself.

I'm so glad I never bought any eggs for little ones the temptation would have been unbearable. xx

No Easter traditions here either! Best place we spent an Easter was in Holland! The Paas Haas brought the eggs and I remember the first year OH brought amazing Easter eggs back from Amsterdam which were almost too pretty to eat . We went on the train somewhere and the Paas Haas was handing out eggs. Our two thought it was the best thing ever!

Will put some money in GS's account and he can spend it as and when he wants.

Daisy.....Sainsbury's do a very nice Simnel slice!

My OH used to love Simnel cake and when he retired he used to make one. I love anything with marzipan in.

WeeGranny - you temptress, you - I've got a Sainsbury's delivery on Monday so plenty of time for me to give in to temptation!

Plant - I love marzipan too. Fortunately OH doesn't, so he always gives me his off the Christmas cake!!

The best bit of the simnel cake Gem , is the cooked marzipan in the middle!! I love marzipan and can happily eat it in or out of cakes!!

WeeGranny, yes they do amazing eggs here, only this year no one is interested in them. As for the marzipan, I can eat almost anything but I don't like marzipan, I can remember making a Christmas cake at school and we had to put marzipan on it, I think I was the only one in the family that didn't like it, as you may remember WeeGranny, they make Easter bread here and put marzipan in it, the same at Christmas time.

Lizzie - my OH really dislikes marzipan too, even when it's homemade. At least on Christmas cakes he can take it off (and give it to me!), but it's not so easy with the marzipan in the middle of a Simnel cake. So far I've resisted temptation - WeeGranny's recommendation for the Sainsbury's Simnel slice - because I'll just keep nibbling at it until it's all gone. But there's still time to add it to my order!
