Our evening went really well.
As well as the board games and indoor and outdoor fireworks which we always have, one of our friends brought two other entertainments. One was the rather dubious game of passing around mini scented candles and guessing which one matched which name! How on earth can you tell what a candle called Frosty Morning or Christmas Wishes smells like?? OH and I only for 4 out of 12
The other was immense fun. It was pitch pipes. A set of whistles, each with a different note. We each had one or two pipes. We had to follow various songs on a printed sheet and blow our whistles when it was our turn. It was hilarious, and sometimes I couldn't blow my notes for laughing! Really good fun, but we don't think we will be playing at the Albert Hall any time soon
All too soon is was 2am and taxis, for non locals, and the others walked home.

Gem - your evening sounds a lot of fun. The pipes game is brilliant, and much harder than you'd think.
We had a good evening at friends. I made what is becoming my 'go to' pudding, baked pineapple, so I had a very easy day. Our hostess did delicious roast beef with all the trimmings, another friend did a cold fruity pud and yet another friend did a fabulous seafood starter. Eva had been invited as well, so the evening was punctuated with our hosts' 9 month old puppy and Eva running round like loonies. At one stage the puppy was determined to jump on OH's lap, and the way champagne glasses were passed round to avoid the dog was hilarious. I was amazed nothing was spilled or broken! We saw the new year in with the firework display on tv, and then came home. It must be a sign that we're getting older that we were in bed before 2 am - very early for us on NYE.
All those with family and friends visiting today - have a great day.
