    Outdoor lights?

Do you like them? Do you have them? Do your neighbours have lights which drive you mad?!

In my road each Christmas there are several houses with outdoor lights on trees or on the house. All are pretty and tasteful and make the area look lovely.
We have coloured lights along our side of the hedge which separates our front garden from the other half of the semi, and on a fir tree in our front garden.
We have a little artificial tree with white lights which we put out on the semi circular front step, and a mummy and baby reindeer also white lights, who also stand on the step.

Sounds lovely Gem , we have a row of coloured lights across the porch and along the front of the house just above the downstairs windows, 2 sets of lights in a tree that’s shed it’s leaves and is a bit twiggy in the winter so lights it up quite nicely we also have some blue twigs you just stick them in the lawn or earth whatever , we have them down the drive. We do have lights on outside all year of various sorts those are always on as are the back ones where we sit in the summer evenings soinds s lot but it’s a big garden , the rest of the road have some like us and some have nothing 😀

We put lights in the cherry tree in the front garden, it that’s it. It’s quite a big tree so holds lots of lights and looks very pretty in the dark. Quite a few houses in our road have outside lights and one or two further down the road go mad at Christmas with Santa’s, reindeers and lights galore in their gardens, I always like to walk down there to,have a look.

We have flashing coloured lights all around the porch eves along the front window sill and along the bedroom window sill . I love them , quite a few of our neighbours have them outside too , the one opposite have one of those projectors that project snow flakes etc on the wall but it doesn't work too well as its too close to the house so only shines on the bottom of the wall ,We all seem to have lights on our door wreaths too

We haven't got anywhere to put a door wreath, and you can't knock a nail into uPVC!

We have only recently got lights for outside. They go over the front door, along the wall which just out for the garage in a pattern, and over the garage door. The only tree in our front garden is a huge blue/green very dense conifer which is a popular roosting place for birds, so we don't like to disturb them with lights.

We’ve got a glass and UPVC door, Daisy, and a long hooky thing that fits over the top of the door for our wreath.

Daisy, we have a wreath on our upvc door. We have a device which goes over the top of the door , securing it, and you hang the wreath on that. Probably similar to Enfys.
Lights on the wreath sound lovely Oma!

We put a wreath on the front door which is UPVC by using fishing wire ove the top of the door and securing it inside. We don’t have lights specifically for Christmas in the garden but we do have a lot of solar garden lights which are there all year round. They are just plain coloured small bulbs.

I have Ribbon on my Wreath with Velcro on the end and a piece of Velcro on the back of the front door ,
Just hang the wreath over the top stick to Velcro and bobs your uncle , it stays on all year as with it being white its not noticed .
We found our door wouldn't close with one of those metal hangers its to tight , I gave it to DD and it worked fine on hers

SIL puts a few strings of lights, they used to have a ho ho ho Father Christmas by their front door but he is no more. I have a hanging basket bracket by my door so I hook my everlasting wreath on that. I like to drive around the village nearer to Christmas to see all the decorations.
What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

We don't bother with outdoor lights now.The last ones we had only lasted about a week.
Like ZIZI, we have a lot of garden lamps, that are on all year. Some are solar, some are electric.
A few of the neighbours have a lot of outdoor lights. To me,some are over the top.
You can overgild the lily,as the saying goes.

I drive my mum around to see Christmas lights Plant. She has no outdoor lights and never has, but loves to see them.
