New Year Celebrations.

We always celebrate with friends and take it in turns to host. This year the theme is School Prom as the hostess is a retired Headteacher. It is loosely based on Hogwarts. I have to give a report on the school year. (We all have a task). Nearly done but I need to include some 'magic' words like hocus pocus. I can think of a few, but I need more so any suggestions will be welcome!

Grauntie, what fun!

We always host a new Years Eve gathering of friends.
Mulled wine and nibbles, takeaways (so no cooking ) board games, indoor fireworks and a couple of quiet outdoor fireworks. This year I have bought a colour-in tablecloth too and have put crayons into little mugs. Usually there are 8 to 10 of us. This year 11!
Everyone seems to love the night and comes back year after year.
They arrive around 7 and leave at 2ish.

On New Years Day we are having my mum round in the afternoon and for a meal.

Husband is not working tomorrow but is on an early shift on NYD so we have decided to have our NYE dinner on NYD as he has a late on 2nd January (which neither of us are happy with but that is the downside of shift working). We rarely go anywhere or have people in on NYE. There are so many fireworks around here I am secretly, curmudgeon me, hoping that it is foggy tomorrow night as it has been all day here.

We have been invited by our lovely new next door neighbours for a hog roast and fireworks. We always used to go out to a dinner dance for NYE but haven't done that for years so this will be different for us. However, I don't know if we will stay until the end, we will see but nice to wish them a Happy New Year 🎉🍷

Hope to be at the local pub where we had our meal on Christmas Day, just for a wee while to join in and have a couple of drinks but not sure we will stay for too long. Usually a quiet evening for us but we raise a toast and hope 2017 brings peace and happiness to everyone on here. Plus of course HEALTH. XXX

We are out to dinner and to see in the New Year with both my sisters and their husbands. I shall take a bottle of bubbly to be cracked open at midnight.

OH always had bookings on NYE so out of the habit of celebrating. No doubt we'll be watching Jools Holland if OH stays awake long enough. He's spent 90 minutes having root canal work done this morning so not feeling too cheery!

Husband has been in bed for 40 minutes. He is up early tomorrow (3.45am). I shall get up and do a quick whizz around supermarket in the morning and we have agreed that when he gets in about 2pm we shall have a bottle of fizz. I have several bottles of good champagne so will chill one in the morning and put another one on ice for dinner in the evening.

Spent the evening with my family next door, left them watching Jools Holland after we toasted the new year. Fireworks going off around us.
