    Decorations

I have started with my decorations I'm not bothering with the tree it's too large and heavy for me to do myself so left it in loft , I may get a small table top one I'm not sure yet the room looks just as festive without , the only problem I have is a lot of my wooden German houses that light up along with the little fairy lights around the big photo frame ,hall mirror ,and wall wreath etc, that take batteries , lots of batteries I have bought enough that should last me till it all comes down again then all the used batteries will go to the recycle tub in Sainsburys . As I couldn't sleep again I have put the last pieces up so I'm all done . Neighbours all switched their out door lights on last night so I will switch ours on tonight 😊

Oma - your little wooden houses sound lovely - have you got a picture?

Our neighbours across the road put up their outside lights on Friday, and next door is beginning to look rather festive too. It's a bit early for us to do ours though.

I will be doing ours next week-end as we always put them up in time for DS2s birthday on the 15th I put up a fraction of what we did in the big family house but still have the most precious pieces we have collected over the years, this year I am bringing indoors my half wall Christmas Tree I usually have it up on the internal stairway to our front door but seeing as Oliver thinks he can climb anywhere in the house we have left the big tree to go to DDs house we have also donated a massive amount of ornaments and festive trimmings for her family to enjoy over the next years.
Oma your little houses sound so cute I do love the German trimmings of any sort we have picked up a few nice pieces at Christmas Markets over the years I love best of all the dried citrus fruit garlands that we have picked up I bag them in plastic and spray with festive oil to refresh the aroma they give off when you come in the front door.

Oma, your decorations look lovely. I'm sure it is very cosy in your living room. I'm glad you have done it, even if you don't get a tree. It will make you feel happier to have the room Christmassy, I know it does for me.

Well I am a bit bah humbug by comparison. We will get the tree out of the loft on the 16th when Sadie and Joe are here. I have some black glittery cones which I usually get out but oth than that and the Christmas cards on the big mirror I don't do decorating. My sister goes bonkers and does sitting room, kitchen, hall, dining room, stairs and banisters plus the decking area outside thef
French Windows and the front of the house. She doesn't understand my delight at getting the tree out of the box, turning it on and then putting it back again 👏🤓

Just a few decs. here too. I put a velvet cloth on the mantlepiece and decorate it with lovely Christmas china ornaments which I bought in Germany, some have candles in. My cards go into a card holders which hang from the wall lights. My friend has made me some lovely hand stitched cards so I have put some in a picture frame. I only have a small twiggy white tree, I love it

I think that it's lovely that we all have the decorations that we want. Over the top or minimalistic, it's what makes us happy that counts

That's true Gem , before the GC came along my tree and decs were very sophisticated minimal and subtle all gold and white , then they came along and it slowly changed with the arrival of hand prints, paper snowmen ,twig people etc , in turn evolved into traditional red and green 😊

Oma home bargains had lovely light up table trees last year, might be worth a look.About a fiver I think. We have a new tree this year it a 6.5 narrow tree, I got it reduced to £10 in January. My sister had one and I commented on how compact it was and as they live in a park home with limited space it was perfect, so I thought it would be ideal for our lounge as although its not a small room a standard tree took up a lot of space. Thiss year my tree will be decorated red and silver. I donated all my other decorations to the charity shop, and bought new ones.

I'll try and get a pic Oma, I know DD bought the one with white lights, mine has berry lights. I just hang miniature wooden decs on the branches/twigs.
