Glamm - our local garden centre was full of 'those' decorations yesterday. It was hard to find the garden things I wanted though.
My DS2 and DIL don't do their shop decorations until around 1st December. The town has a "C*******s Market and that heralds the start of the town street decorations going on etc. I think that's plenty soon enough, although I think it's still a bit early to start the shopping!!! Their customers have other ideas though, and at the moment they are inundated with work. They're not complaining of course, and if that avalanche of work came in in December they'd never meet their customers' deadlines.

I understand completely why shops have their windows and stores decorated early, after all they are trying to run a business, but in your own home ? No it's way too early.
When I was a child we had crepe paper streamers and by 12th night they had begun to sag , just imagine what the decs are going to look like by Dec 1st ! I know its not the trend to decorate as much as we did years ago but things can still look a little 'tired' at the end of ChristmasBring me sunshine in your smile.

I agree Mimi, of course businesses need to have the Christmas stuff on display in plenty of time for us to buy it.
I suppose it is up to the individual how soon or late they decorate for the festive season, but with outdoor lights you are sort of imposing them on others, so it shouldn't be this soon!
We tend to put our indoor and outdoor decorations and lights up a couple of weeks before Christmas and they stay there until 12th night.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

We generally put our decs up a week before Christmas, although there have been years when it's been Christmas Eve! I like to take them down on 2nd January, like Oma, but definitely by 12th Night."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "
