The last 3 years we have an artificial tree it looks quite real and, previously we always had real ones. I miss the smell but not the needles. This year I found a room fragrance oil that smells of christmas tree so I have bought that. Decoration wise the tree is silver and turquoise baubles, fairy on the top.

Well we are utterly pathetic this year and not in the least posh one 2 foot pre lit twig tree which is pretty, I have just added 4 miniature birds houses to it, and 1 silver 2 foot tree with gold baubles and gold moroccan lights. Plus 2 little pre lit penguins thats the lot. Having puppy decided 2 leave the big tree in the loft this year."What doesn't kill us,makes us stronger."

DD1 is very posh as well with three trees! One in the living room which is tastefully decorated, one in the dining room/playroom which is less tastefully decorated by the boys and another one by the front door!
We always had a real tree until we got the dog and then had to get an artificial one. Current one is pre-lit which saves a lot of time. It was over 6' tall but I took the middle section out and it fits perfectly in the window which also keeps it out of the way. I have two decorations made by my daughters when they were at playschool. A robin and a stocking. My Son tore his up when he had a paddy one Christmas. His friend had a two tone tree which he thought was amazing and he wanted us to have the same.

First year we had the dog we put the chocolate decorations on as usual - what a mess he made! I had forgotten that.xx

As has been said cats and dogs and real trees don't go together. So with much regret we bought an artificial tree many moons ago. That one was decidedly worse for wear and went to the tip last year. So I thought I'd do something different. Last year was the year of the twiggy tree, sourced from a walk on the bridle path and set in a bucket of cement. Very successful. This year I had planned a series of branches attached to a middle stem with yellow lights and my favourite ornaments. GC no.4 has started crawling now so That has gone on to the back burner and we bought a small tree (real) to go on a table in the conservatory.
BUT I have a 5 arm light fitting over my dining table and I have hung many, many baubles from it. It looks fantastic even though I say it myself. I dress the two big mirrors with fresh foliage and fairy lights too and that looks very festive.Women are like tea bags; you never know how strong they are until they are put in hot water.

We do have an artificial tree although quite realistic! I love decorating it as we have collected decorations from our travels.I had forgotten the kiwi, the bauble from the Falklands, the wooden animals from Africa and our little baubles from Hong Kong to name a few. GDs love finding out where they are from.

Since we won't be having a real tree (see earlier post) this year, we'll trundle out our two artificial trees - one's about 20 years old but it fits in the corner of the living room and this year i've treated it to a bargain box of silver baubles from a supermarket which had promised that even this little will help, plus the decorations that have survived my childhood, our children's childhood and 12 years of grandchildren - smart it is not. When GS1 was about 3, we got the second tree and decorate it in red and green - mostly child-safe baubles and things. I put it in the dining room as something that might keep him occupied while we had Dinner (he was fascinated by lights at that time). Now I put it in the hall where the lights can be seen from the outside. And this year we've splashed out on some outside lights, because we were beginning to look very un-Christmassy."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. DH put the outside lights on the cherry tree in the front garden over the weekend. It looks lovely in the evening and we also have a twinkly obelisk in the back garden. I love seeing all the outside decorations, some really OTT, but it all looks so Christmassy 🎄 🎅"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr Seuss
