    Festival of Lights

We had a lovely day yesterday at Longleat to see the Festival of Lights. It was a trip with a local coach company, the first time we have been with them and it was great. We had a trip around the safari park, saw loads of animals...lions, tigers, cheetahs and even had a herd of camels surrounding us. The ride through the monkey park was so funny..they kept away from the coaches but were all over the cars trying to steal wipers, window trims etc. we also went around the house which was all decorated with themes of different children's stories, so we saw Cinderalla, Snow White, Red Riding hood etc and it was lovely to see all the children chatting to the characters.

At four o'clock the lights were switched on and they were amazing, huge displays including a Chinese dragon, a group of elephants, palace, animals, fish.......mainly based on a Chinese theme, not really Christmassy although there was an enormous tree all lit up. Absolutely fantastic, well worth a visit. We were expecting terrible weather and although it was cold it wasn't too bad; Rained a bit just as the lights were switched on but then it stopped and we just had the odd spot or too so we were very lucky. I will try and upload some pics but they don't really do it justice.

Enfys - what a lovely day. I've never been to Longleat, but I can see I'll have to make a visit. I love seeing children's faces when they're so excited and engaged. It sounds as though you'll be making more trips with this company. I look forward to seeing the photos.

I think the weather was better than forecast for us yesterday, because we only got really heavy rain about 4 o'clock - just the time the parade was taking place for our Christmas Fair! Still, everyone enjoyed it.

Daisy, it's well worth a visit. This coach company is excellent...they serve free hot drinks and shortbread on the trip out and when we got back to the coach before leaving to come home we had hot soup, and/ or hot drink and mince pies! We are going to Bletchley park with them in April, saves DH driving so he can relax and enjoy the journey

Enfys - how lovely to get refreshments thrown in as well! The Bletchely Park trip sounds good - OH is fascinated by it, but we've never been. Is the coach company local to Bournemouth?

Daisy, yes. It's based in Ferndown.
