Ladies Ladies, calm down dears ! Gemini if you had told me you were starting this thread I would have begged you to stop in the name of everything.
It is only SEPTEMBER for land's sake
I detest this time of year. I do not wish to eat and drink myself silly. I think it is a gigantic Con trick and I object to being forced to spend money on it! In fact I WONT spend more than I have to and that goes on te GK's who have everything anyway like most kids in the Developed World.
I have many other reasons, mostly spiritual ones, which I won't bore you with. I do love Christmas Eve in the Cathedral though!

Christmas for me is just one day, that's Christmas day. From Boxing day onwards, I like things back to normal. Don't mind the build up to Christmas such as Christmas shopping and sending cards. We do trim up, but I always want to take them down, day after Boxing day.Hubby always wants to leave them up until NEW YEAR.Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I' m with Elisi here, except the Cathedral bit. ( we don't have one in my bit of Essex) so we have a 'Christmas Starts Here' party. We always have a theme, last year the guests had to rap to a given carol. They were told in advance and the results were so, so funny. This year the dress code will be Charity Shop, and I'm still contemplating the entertainment. Apart from that, my highlight is the GCs.Women are like tea bags; you never know how strong they are until they are put in hot water.

To me it is a lovely time which brightens up winter, which I detest.
Nice food, beautiful tree and lights, decorations, seeing friends and family - what's not to like??!
I do agree it starts too early these days and I don't start shopping before November, unless I see a bargain of course“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown
