    Putting it all away!

We called in to friends house today and it was totally devoid of any signs of Christmas. They are not Jehovah witnesses, just taken tree, cards and decorations down. Tidy in her book (and my OH's really) but sad and bare in mine!

I know it all has to come down but not too soon.

I know some of you here like everything down soon after Christmas
I suppose it makes a difference when they go up too. If they have been up since the beginning of December that is a long time

I do like at least like our trees and outside lights to remain until twelfth night.

OH is due to play golf tomorrow. I may start to take down the decorations and cards, apart from family ones. Then the trees and indoor and outdoor lights can be done on Tuesday.

I don'.t have tree etc Gem, what I did have were packed away before New Year. Asked Google if Christmas cards can go in our paper containers, they can, so all is sorted now.

Here Lizzie any cards with glitter or wrapping paper with glitter or anything metallic can't go in, it's confusing!

Oh everything is down , since new year's Day,
We put ours up the first week of December,
We have to move Bs chair over by the sofa to get the tree up and I hate the room being so cluttered ,
It's such a small room there is no where else to put it ,
So when new year hits I can't wait to get it all packed up.
Not that I don't like my Christmas stuff it's that I can't cope with clutter for too long ,
I start to get anxious ,
Everyone in our cul-de-sac are out new years day taking their lights down too,
Seems a annual thing all the men out the same time 😁
Im not fat just 6ft too small

We were unable to put decorations up this year as OH wasn't well enough to get them down from the loft, so it was just cards and a few Christmas candles and nick knacks. I'm going to take them down today. We usually leave them until around 12th night, but don't put them up until at least the second week in December.

I love putting the decorations up, but also feel quite relaxed about taking them down again. I usually take the opportunity to change round ornaments and OH's lovely wooden items etc just to give rooms a different look. OH can't understand why I do this, but he just accepts it.

I think there's a trend for people to put up their decorations much earlier than they used to. I think if ours were up from the beginning of December I would be more then ready to take them down on 2nd January, after New Year's Day.

The houses in our cul de sac who put lights up outside have still got them up, which is lovely and looks very cheerful.

I’m with Gem, twelfth night night for me too. Don’t have many so shouldn’t take long.

I took the none-family cards down today and a few decorations.
I will take a few more down tomorrow, which won't take long.
I have nothing on Tuesday but my library morning, so trees and lights will come down then.

Our neighbours 3 doors down always leave theirs until twelfth night, and it gives me some strange comfort they their outside lights are on with ours! There are some still lit further down our road and elsewhere in the village, but no more that we can see from our house.
Having said that most of our near neighbours don't even bother with outside lights!

We took the indoor decorations down on New Years Day.
Ourdoor lights are still on.Hubby wants to leave them until 12th night.
