What have you run out of/forgotten at Christmas?

A couple of comments on Chat made me wonder who has run out of something basic and/or important at Christmas? Nowadays the shops are hardly closed, but years ago Christmas Day on a Thursday often meant shops were closed for 4 days, and even when they opened the shelves were mostly bare.

One year, before we had a dishwasher, we ran out of washing up liquid on Christmas morning.

This year I forgot to add ibuprofen and Iams to the order! OH picked up some ibuprofen yesterday and today I got the Iams. I also bought a Melton Mowbray pork pie for OH. I rarely eat them so often forget to buy one!

A few years ago, when my mum still came to us for Christmas Day I realised that morning we had no cranberry sauce! OH asked our neighbour if we could borrow a couple of spoonsful (OH doesn't eat it so we didn't need much) Fortunately they had a whole spare jar they let us have

Gem, you're a star! I had forgotten cranberry sauce, but have been able to add it to my order for Tuesday. xx

Lemons! Necessary for the fishy starters and I'd completely forgotten them! OH went off into Cambridge where the Asian shops were open on Christmas Day and saved the day!

We had forgotten the cranberry sauce one year,
My lot love it , we did without and no one even asked where it was ,
So all the panic over it was for nothing 😁

            DD makes her own now
I remember one year forgetting the bacon to wrap the pigs in blankets , that year we just had pigs 🐖

Oma, we ate our pigs in blankets for dinner last night! They're not the same without a slice of turkey and a dollop of cranberry sauce.
