Is there anything you don't like about Christmas.

For me its poinsettias. I don't like the plant.
And, i hate to see them on cards and wrapping paper.

I used to work with someone that did'nt like cards and paper with candles on.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I love all things Christmassy really.

I do get sick of Christmas music and Christmas ads on the telly however as they start so early. By actual Christmas I am sick of hearing them!

I think I'm the same Gem,
Christmas adverts seem to start far too early,
I don't like the crowded shops either we shop very early at the best of times,
I would never shop Christmas eve even early morning.

Oma I once shopped in M&S foodhall on Christmas Eve morning. Never again!
They did come along the queues with open boxes of M&S chocolates though!

Nanto, I don't like rude cards anytime, but especially at Christmas. I just seems wrong.

I find it difficult to choose presents. I always want to get something the person will be delighted with, but often have no idea what that is, or where I should shop for it.

By the Way! A big contrast to the Christmas Eve nightmare in M&S Foodhall. I once left the last grocery shop until the day before Christmas Eve. That particular Sainsbury's was open all night, and at 1 am it was all but deserted, and the shelves were filled to the rafters.

The year before last , I waited in the queue at the farm shop butchers in the freezing cold for 2 hours and 40 minutes ,
              Collecting our Christmas meat order,
They did come around with. Hot chocolate ,But even with hat scarf gloves and a big coat I was frozen to the bones.
I said. I wouldn't do it again so last year I got there half hour before they opened at 6.30 and I was 5th in the queue,
This year SIL is doing the queuing.

The commercialism and the ads with tables groaning with food and happy families!

I don’t like all the commercialism which starts much too early. When we had little ones we decorated with lots of streamers etc. and the good old paper chains. Now I just have a pop up Christmas tree with a couple of sentimental ornaments on the mantle place. It will only be me and DS1 on the day.To be honest I’m rather relieved when it’s over!

Oma, it sounds as though the farm shop butchers needed more staff. DS2 orders and collects the turkey from our local farm shop, it's his treat to us all at Christmas, so I escape that ordeal.

Clover, there is always that sadness of the empty chair as well. That's very hard.

I hate the commercialism as well, and try not to get drawn into the frenzy. Once the children, and now grandchildren get too old for the Santa story the day changes and the magic I used to love is very different.

I agree Daisy. It does change.
There are 21 years between my youngest child and oldest GC, so several non believers years!

A 9 year old on the cusp of still believing and a 3 year just learning about Santa means we have the magic a few years longer here.

Clover, I thought it was just me!!! I can remember my father being the same, my mother loved Christmas time. When I worked there was never any bother of deciding who would work on Christmas Day!!

I love Christmas morning, family gathering, glass of champers a nibble or two. Opening presents, little ones excited. Sil’s awful carving of the turkey. Christmas crackers, dreadful jokes. Silly games. Those with children to get to bed depart and the rest fall asleep.
