    Christmas decorations up?

I have seen the first houses in our village decorated for Christmas a week or more ago.

When do you put up your tree and/ or decorations?

We definitely wait until December, usually sometime in the first or second week. We leave them up until 12th night, so any earlier would be a really long time!

I feel people should do exactly what they want regarding this, although it does make me feel a bit sad when people take them down just after Christmas, especially the outside lights!

Late December and January are so dark and dismal, lovely lights brighten it up

Gem, there are so many up around here, have been for weeks! I don't think they even know the meaning of Christmas.

Lots have had the decorations up for weeks here,
We used to put ours up on Bs birthday when we had the little ones but I now try to persuade him to wait till first week of December,
I usually take them down again on New years day,
      By then I've had enough

We used to put ours up on the week-end before Christmas and take them down on 12th Night. My OH thought that was incredibly early as his family used to put the decorations up as part of Christmas Eve festivities, although the church would have had their tree and nativity scene up early December.

Now it varies when we do ours. Sometimes it's been when we've had grandchildren visiting. They loved doing that when they were younger. Generally it's about a week or 10 days before Christmas, and sometimes we take them down early January.

There aren't many decorations up in our road yet, but one house always puts their up early and it does look very festive, but not over the top.

Not until Christmas Eve because it’s still Advent. They come down on Epiphany, the 6th January.

We had friends who always put their tree up on Christmas Eve. Very magical and special, but too short a time up I felt, especially for the cost of a real tree!

When we had a real tree the date we put it was around December 15th. So it would last until 12th night. We bought the Balsam Hill one a few years ago so now tend to put it up a bit earlier.

Sum1, that's probably why my OH's family put their tree up on Christmas Eve morning. When the children had grown up and had left home, the whole family was invited to Christmas Eve dinner, which was effectively Christmas dinner. FIL was, of course, busy with church services all Christmas Day and MIL tried to get him to rest between services as he got older.
