    Christmas Adverts

    'Tis the Season!

What do you think of this year's crop of adverts popping up on our TVs?

I like the story behind the John Lewis one, but feel they are selling their brand - a caring organisation with a social conscience - even more than usual. I've no idea whether that's a good thing for them or not!

I'm already fed up with the obscure ones selling perfume and toiletries. It's hard to tell what they're for sometimes.

And of course, I think they are all far too early!

Well I’m with you on they are far too early ,
I love Christmas but it’s all so in your face far to soon .

I don’t think I have noticed the JL one yet i will keep a eye out for it .
They put so many on I sort of tune out and don’t listen to them half the time x

I agree they are too early. I think it was still October when I saw the first one!

The Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders M&S one I'm not impressed with. I just caught the end of the J Lewis one this morning so will watch that properly at some point.
I quite like the Lidl one with the teddy.

There is one advert that is the same year after year. Its for perfume.
Don't reckon anything to the John Lewis advert.
I don't think they have had a good one for years.

Far, far too early for Christmas adverts! At least they could wait until Remembrance Day is over before bombarding us from every which way. I have to say I haven't heard any Christmas music in the shops ( not that I've been in many lately) yet, but it won't be long before that starts!

I agree with you Daisy about the JL advert, more selling their brand, rather than goods, which I suppose isn't such a bad thing. I wonder how many tables will actually be laden down with food this year? Will people economise, or put themselves in debt so as not to be seen as mean?

Nanto - is the the Marc Jacobs one for "Daisy" (no connection!!!)? I think it's weird - the girls look as though they've been hypnotised!

The ads that run year after year either exactly the same or an ongoing storyline, are nice little earners for the people taking part in them. I know an actress whose Christmas ad work kept a roof over their heads!

WeeGranny, I totally agree about waiting at least until after Remembrance Sunday. It seems very disrespectful to be screening them so early.

They have used it for the past few years.

I don't like the advert for Daisy either.

Nanto - I see what you mean - it's a bit odd, and I don't see how it connects to the perfume. Perhaps I need a better imagination.

Christmas trees on sale at Waitrose today !!!! I resisted buying one!!!

Really dislike the Libre perfume advert especially when she's roaring and you can see her tonsils ( well almost!)

Won't these early Christmas trees be bare by Christmas Day? I should think there would be a bed of pine needles all over the house.
