My two ex work friends and I have postponed our Christmas meal out on 20th. I am so glad as I wasn't happy about it. We will go out next year some time.

One of my friends messaged to say she was worried about testing positive after it and messing up Christmas. This was exactly what I had been thinking so I was glad. Our other friend would still go, but was outnumbered. I have invited them both here that evening for coffee or wine , then we can exchange the presents we would have taken with us.

I do feel guilty as restaurants are going to suffer again, but you have to go with your instincts don't you?

Gem - I agree, you have to do what you think is best for you and yours at the moment. OH decided not to go to his Wood Turning Club Christmas meet tonight, and I have to say I was glad. We had also pulled out of a neighbourhood get together in a nearby hotel - there should have been 73 of us, and only about 30 actually went. Such is the level of caution.

I feel dreadfully sorry for restaurants, pubs and cafes who would expect to be really busy at this time of year, but when things have improved we'll all have to go out more often to make up for it.

I am out with DD and Storm tomorrow at a Doggy Christmas tea party ,
Its held in a big barn so very open , we went to one the Christmas just before the first lock down .
It was lovely but as its open it was freezing ,

Monday M&C myself and B are taking MIL out for lunch that's if B's cold has cleared if not M&C will have to take MIL themselves ,
To be honest I would prefer not going so it wont be a hardship if we have to cancel .

I am fully jabbed as is the rest of the family. I am now going to be extra careful as I don’t want to mess up the family Christmas. I don’t have any social gatherings, I will pick my time for my last shop to Waitrose.

Plant - I remember one year when I had been particularly busy at college and hadn't had a chance to do any food shopping I went to a 24-hour mega-big Sainsbury's about 2 am on the 24th - and it was deserted - and the shelves were stacked. I'm not suggesting you do that, but I hope you can find a quiet time.

Oma - I can understand you not wanting to go out for lunch on Monday if you can help it. Are M&C ok about going, given C's pregnant?

Enfys - fingers crossed everyone in your family is ok.

Mmmm, I think I will go Monday or Tues for things I am contributing to the Christmas table. I am making some blinis for Christmas morning, an almond frangipane and Christmas pudding and an overnight salad for supper. Although Christmas morning will be hectic, we are only 7 for Christmas lunch. I don’t think I will risk the shelves being full on Friday.

I got a Waitrose delivery yesterday, somehow there were two boxes of party food.......Indian snack selection and sausage rolls! I cannot remember ordering them, but I obviously did!!

We shall be snacking until Christmas!

I've got a Christmas delivery on Tuesday and I shall be all stocked with food in case we can't go to DD's.

I've just got to deliver some little presents for the staff who've looked after OH for all the years he had CLL. Family presents to wrap, oh and decorate the tree. I ended up getting a little artificial one after much humming and hahing.

WeeGranny - Christmas is very hard when you've just lost a dear one without the added uncertainties of Covid infections. I do hope you can go to DD's, and I'm sure she feels the same, but you sound very well organised with snacks in the meantime.

Plant - hopefully Monday or Tuesday won't be too bad, especially if you can go early or just before closing.

I've got a Sainsbury delivery on Tuesday evening, and need to do a bit of other shopping on Tuesday morning. Then, that's it. Milk will be delivered on Thursday, I make bread so that will be fresh, and anything we haven't got we will do without.

As everyone is saying, anyone in the family getting Covid now is going to upset all the plans anyway.
