    Christmas food

Is there anything you intend to buy food wise that you only buy at Christmas as a treat ,
Apart from Mince pies Christmas cake etc ?

We always buy a nice Gammon to roast at Christmas and cook it for new years day when everyone comes to ours but we not doing that this year so its not worth getting for just us two
I do intend however buying a M&S small gammon roasting joint , its just enough for two .

We also splash out on Rib eye Joint of beef , I am not a big red meat eater but I do like this as B does it slowly and its always melt in the mouth .
When we went to the farm shop last week we bought the smallest we could find just for us .

This year going to DD's for Christmas dinner and not having everyone around on New year we don't need lots of party food

I have bought a bottle of Advocaat as I do enjoy a Snowball occasionally , we only ever buy this at Christmas

Aldi do a lovely Ginger cake with Orange this time of year I always buy one of those its sticky and indulgent
Im not fat just 6ft too small

We now buy an M&S triple chocolate panettone, since OH won one three years ago.
I like some Wensleydale cheese to go with the Christmas cake. I only buy that sort of cheese at Christmas.

We are doing a family buffet on Boxing Day for 11. Meat eaters, vegans and vegetarians, so I will need a good variety of nice foods

Tin of roses , we don't eat them regularly
I must admit we love mince pies ( used to make my own years ago) so I buy them as soon as I see them in the shops . We have been munching on them quite happily now for a few weeks.

I don't think we will be buying anything out of the ordinary.
Last month i bought a very large chicken, but grandaughter cancelled her visit.
So we are going to have that Christmas day alongside a piece of beef.
We have already had a box of biscuits and qualiy street bought,so i just want a tin of roses.
We have bought mince pies, but i prefer homemade ones.
So, i will be making some and rich coconut tarts that we love.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I always make mince pies, and will probably do the first batch tomorrow afternoon. OH buys Quality Street by the ton - we currently have 3 boxes in. We buy Terry's dark chocolate oranges, too. We buy nuts all year round, but get extra at Christmas, including nuts in shells (oh, the fun of trying to get them open!) and sweet chestnuts (although I sometimes go and pick them wild).

I usually get a large joint of topside for pot roasting and a side of salmon, depending on who is visiting and when. It's about the only time of year I buy white sliced bread for emergency sandwiches or a summer pudding.

My parents always used to stock up on alcohol, although they hardly drank the rest of the year, and I can remember bottles of Advocaat but never tried it. A snowball was such a posh drink, I thought. Plus, of course, Babycham and Cherry Brandy.

I've just ordered a rib of beef for DD to collect from her local butcher. She's invited DS and myself to theirs for Christmas. She'll organise everything else I think .I shall also get some smoked salmon from the smoke house in Orford.

Can't think of anything special that we only have at Christmas though.
