    Leaving lights up

A lot of people (us included) in our village are leaving their Christmas lights up this year. Outdoor and window ones.
This is a response to the misery of a winter lockdown. It has had a very positive response on the FB group.
WG mentioned Candlemas on another thread, and this is when many people have decided to leave the lights up until. This is February 2nd.

I thought our neighbours opposite were leaving theirs up, but tonight the house is in darkness so I think they might have taken them down. We didn't put any up this year.

All our decs came down today. I missed the warm glow of the lights tonight. I like to leave them until the 12th night. Love the idea of leaving outdoor lights up to add a bit of cheer.

We took all our decs and lights down.
I do like to see the soft warm glow of the lights and in this present situation I think we all have to do whatever gives us hope and comfort.

I was wrong! The neighbour's lights were on this morning.

Mimi - so true. We have to do those things that give us hope and cheer us up. xxx

              Our outside lights are down.
I was up for leaving them until Candlemas, 2 more weeks, but they were getting on OH's nerves.
A lot of people in the village have left them up, but none within sight of our house, so we were the only ones around here.

Oh well, only 10 or 11 months until they go up again

Gem - you could always put them up again in August. xxx
