    Cadbury's Advent Calendar

It seems some people open up their Advent Calendars before the given date, and some people who have opened 4th December already aren't happy with the message they found behind the door -

    "Give hugs at Christmas"

I assume the calendar was designed before Covid took over our lives, but it some people are upset about the message.

Personally, I don't think they should be looking ahead in their calendar!!

One day at a time for Advent calendars, as in life!

I haven't bought an Advent calendar for years.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I think along with decorating earlier for Christmas, more have been buying Advent calendars!
There are none to be found. I tried to put one on Saturdays Sainsbury's order. Only a dog, cat for Cheese calendar were available! I fully expected to find some in Wilko today, but not a single one.
I was going to get us one each, or even one to share, which we often do. Wit all my early Christmas preparations, I forgot about Advent calendars!

As you know GS has ASD and is very particular about certain things. He also has a nut allergy so a lot of advent calendars aren’t suitable. Even more difficult to find are calendars that have 25 doors. GS is most insistent that there should be 25 doors . 😀 After searching hard for an elusive calendar DD decided to make one for F .I’ll see if I can get a photo. DD enjoys being “crafty” 😀

Clover, it's funny how some Advent Calendars have 25 doors now. I think it started with the chocolate ones.
                Good for DD

When I was a playgroup leader I made an advent calendar every Christmas. Because there were more than 24 children in total and of course there is no playgroup at weekends bought ones wouldn't do. I made one window for each child, and 2 children got to open a window each day. Pre computer days so I had to cut out all my pictures. I enjoyed doing it

Clover - I know what you mean about things having to be 'right'. Does F open the 25th on Christmas morning?I don't know when Advent calendars started having chocolates in them, I'm sure they were just little doors to open each day when our children were young in the 1970/80s. It was the easy way for little ones to countdown to the Big Day.

Gem - I can imagaine the fun you had creating your Advent calendars each year. Did you take photos of any of them?

                        A lovely calendar

Daisy, I took no photos. It was pre mobile phone days, and I only used a camera for birthdays, Christmas, holidays etc.

Clover - what a lovely photo of Finn with his 25 day Advent calendar. He's looking so grown up - has he grown a lot taller?

Gem - that's how it was back then - I just wondered on the off-chance. I only realised the other day that back then we didn't even take photos of our newborn children - well I didn't!

Daisy, my children were born in 1976, 1978 and 1988.
When DD 3 was born I had scan photos to begin her baby photo album, and made sure OH had the camera and took photos of her newborn in the delivery room. With the first two no scans and we took no photos until they came home from hospital.

I think DS1 was several weeks old before we thought of taking photos of him. I think we took some of him holding DS2 quite early on though.
