School Christmas parties and plays 2020

At my grandchildren's schools Christmas productions are going on. They can only be done within the class bubble of course.
They will be available for families to see via Zoom (or some method, I am not sure if it is Zoom)
We were a bit sorry that we wouldn't see GS2's first nativity as we thought he wouldn't be doing one, so we are happy about this.
GD, in year 6 wouldn't be doing one anyway, nor GS1 in year 3. I think his school does a carol concert for key stage 2 though. I will ask him on Tuesday and update.

I don't yet know about GS1's school, but GD and Gs2's are having a class Christmas party for each class, which they are greatly looking forward to.
No buffet style food, but each child will get their own box with crisps, mini roll, drink etc.

It is important to have some sort of normality and celebration in a year when everything has been so disrupted for children.

I am hoping that two youngest GS's school will be streaming their Christmas play if they are having one .
Perhaps they will be able to have a party of some sort in their class rooms within their bubble. As you say Gem it is important to have some sort of normality.

On a slightly different note, I have just received an email from our local theatre.
They are streaming their annual pantomime Hansel and Gretel on the 5the Dec. The tickets are £15 or pay what you can from £3: which I think is good as they have taken into consideration that there are a lot of families out there struggling to make ends meet. I am assuming it will be steamed via utube .
We might buy a ticket and watch it ( oh no we won't, oh yes we will, sorry, just practicing)
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

That is sweet Oma. A good idea but how will she disguise herself. Surely not with a beard😀😀

          Oh Mimi, that's lovely!

I wondered about Santa, whether they would just see him through the window and sack passed to teacher? I will ask DD.

Mrs Clause is a nice idea Oma

I have to admit I hadn't really thought about the Christmas events at school. <red face> GD1 is in Year 6 and they usually have a carol service in church which both of us grandmas would have gone to. I don't suppose that will happen. The junior school also does a nativity play in church as well. Again, I don't think that will take place.

GD2 is in Year 2 of the Infants school, and they usually do a production for each year, with Year R doing the Nativity play. This wouldn't work with the existing bubbles though.

GS2 is in Year 11, and I think they usually just have a party but I don't suppose that's possible. Since GS1's college course has been taught 90% online, there's no chance of them having any kind of celebration.

They have all missed out such a lot.

Clover - I had to smile at Mrs Clause disguising herself with a beard - but perhaps she'll just wear her Mrs Clause face mask!

Mimi - What a good idea to live stream the pantomime, and even better to make contributions optional so everyone can enjoy it.

Oh dear, this whole pandemic might be my fault!!! I remember commenting last year that there was too much pressure on families with all the school activities, Christmas fairs, productions, carol concerts, non-uniform days and all sorts of things. Honestly, I truly didn't want my prayers answered in this way!!!
