    Christmas keep sakes

Following on from Clover and Wee Grannies makes I was wondering what if any we all have that has been brought out year after year .

My door wreath I made is at least 20+ years , I bought a plain green wreath and embellished it myself adding bows and bells and battery lights over the years , it has a Santa's head in the middle . I will take a pic tomorrow

We also have quite a few Nut cracker soldiers but one in particular we bought many many years ago in Germany along with a wooded star we hang in the front window it has a cut out of a nativity scene on it .

Lots of my Christmas bits I have kept a long time apart from Tree Baubles each year I seem to see different ones I like , also over the years I have changed colour a lot , now its traditional Red and Gold .

Oh and my light up tree star topper that has been re wired a few times over the years that must be well over 25years , They all go back into their original boxes , some boxes are more tape than box now

I have a carboard Father Christmas that DS2 made. it was his first Christmas at school.
    He's 47 now.

A lot have been posting picrures of their xmas trees on facebook.
So many of them now stick to certain colour scheme.
We have baubles from the 1st Chrictmas we were married, first Christmases we had DS1 and DS2.
They all get put on the tree year after year. Every year i buy a few new ones, but the old ones are favourites.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Well my oldest and favourite tree decoration has to be my fairy, she was given to me by my mother when I got married, I have re-dressed her once.

On our Christmas tree we have a fairy/angel sitting proudly on the top. She is still in a good condition considering she was purchased back in 1973 from Woolworths. She originally had a bright blue skirt ( was very trendy at the time ) but in the 80s DD covered it in gold paper . DD has claimed it for herself when OH and I are no longer around!
I also have a 3D cardboard Father Christmas which I can remember was part of my childhood Christmas’s . Also on the tree we have mum’s pretty Christmas bauble. The Father Christmas and bauble must be about 60 years old !

Bring me sunshine in your smile.

We've also gota bauble from my childhood. Its a glass one.
It goes on the tree every year, but because it is a breakable one(remember those) i wrap it in tissue for packing away.

I have one very tiny bauble which I think we used on the tree my Dad always put in the shop window - we've had that since I was 7! I also have some transparent plastic ones which can be slotted together to make 3-D stars, etc, from about the same era. We have bought other odds and ends of baubles over the year and everything that survives from one year to the next goes on the tree(s).

We started having a second tree when DS1 was a toddler - having a tree in the dining room helped to keep him entertained in his high chair during the meal. I bought a whole tree-full of ornaments for that tree - more child-friendly than the fragile old ones - and we now put that tree in the hall. It seems to be dog proof as well as child proof!
