Well it has been decided what we are doing for Christmas Day. GD's and GS's are going to their partners families this year as they were here last year. I wanted DD and SIL to go away, I could easily go to DS and Dil's but we have found our favourite pub/restaurant still had some tables for Christmas dinner so it is now booked for Christmas Day for DD, Sil me and sil's mother. GD1 and her partner, GS2 and his partner will be here Christmas morning and probably GS1, his wife and the children might pop in before they go to her mothers. We are all going to DS's and his family for Boxing Day, he cooks a curry feast for loads of friends and family. Now to get started on present buying. My DD is so pleased she is not going to be cooking Christmas dinner this year.

I am really looking forward to a family Christmas this year. It will be my GD’s 18th birthday on Christmas Eve and I will be going to her birthday party. I will be staying there overnight.
On Christmas Day my DD, SIL, eldest GS and GD and I will all be going to spend Christmas Day with my DS, DIL and youngest GS. I will be staying with my son and his family until the day after Boxing Day.
The last time the whole family were together on Christmas Day was in 2015. This was the last Christmas before my hubby died in 2016. It was magical.Always face the sunshine and the shadows fall behind you.

Well both of you are all sorted then
We will spend the day at DD, with SIL and GS1 plus His parents as we always do , DD loves Christmas day.
Only once have we said we didn't mind not going if they wanted a Christmas alone for a change , DD & SIL went ballistic you would think we had suggested planning a murder
As far as DD is concerned Christmas day is her chance to thank us for what we do , not that we need thanking but I can understand what she means
They usually come to us Boxing day or the day after and then we all go to SIL's parents New years dayIm not fat just 6ft too small

As you would expect, there are no firm plans yet in the Daisy family!
DS1 and family are currently living with DIL's mum and step dad while their house is being extended. We've invited them here for the whole of Christmas if they would like a change of scenery.
We'll wait and see.

Can't remember the last time we had a family Christmas! DC both worked in the hospitality business, so inevitably they were working on the day. We celebrated whenever they were free and available to celebrate. For the past couple of years we've gone to DS as he is on his own and then have a Christmas with DD&co when we get back. I quite enjoy getting away from the madness that Christmas has become in this country.
As a child I can't remember spending the day with the extended family. Dad, along with most men in those days, was working, so apart from the presents it was just another day. Hogmanay and New Year were the big celebrations when we visited family.Believe you can and you're halfway there.

Since DD1 & her partner split DD & her two boys have come to us at Christmas for about four days over the hols. Boxing Day OH & I go to my brother's for the day. Funny old time really, as Mum died just a few days before Christmas & GS3 was born exactly a week after. We still celebrate tho. 💞🎅"Good friends help you to find important things when you have lost them....your smile, your hope, and your courage."

All here this year. This includes a friend of DD1 & SiL who has spent Christmas Day with our family for 10 years at least and qualifies for an adult stocking. If anyone scoops up anyone else they will be welcome.
We also host ‘Christmas Starts Here’, usually the middle Saturday in December. This has been going since the children were small and we had a large lounge diner. Now our numbers have halved, 18 this year. There is always a theme and guests have to entertain for their supper. Easy this year, each guest has to make and bring a cracker, the contents will no doubt be very funny. Also each couple must bring a silly table game. Always good fun.Women are like tea bags; you never know how strong they are until they are put in hot water.

That sounds great Grauntie, you wouldn't get my family to join in such crazy things. I think it is always fun at your house, can I come too? Perhaps I should arrange something for the family on the Sat before Christmas as we are not going to be together Christmas Day. Mmmm what games can I get them to play? What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

We will be going over to DDs as usual this year. It’s easier for us to go there. Last year we had a buffet and it worked really well so are doing the same again. DGS is going to set up his table tennis table in the conservatory and we will have a tournament! Otherwise, we will play games and generally just chill out."Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr Seuss
