    Christmas cards

My sister and BIL are church goers and each year I find it harder and harder to find them a suitable Christmas card. The shops are awash with cards but finding a nice one with a religious theme is near impossible. In a large Tesco the other day a whole aisle was devoted to cards,Birthday one side and Christmas the other, but not one like I was looking for.Hopefully the stall on Swansea market they sells Christian books etc.will still be there and I can find a card there.
I defend everyone’s right to their own views and beliefs but it makes me sad that those who do believe are side-lined. A small section amongst all the other cards would be appreciated.

I am very fussy about the words, after all who wants a card saying Merry Christmas if they have lost a loved one or have serious health problems.

Clover, i have seen quite a few religous cards. One of the charity shops (can't remember which) had some.
Unfortunately, they were in packs,no individual ones.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Is there a Christian book shop near you Clover ? Maybe they'd have something. I quite agree with you about beliefs and religion being sidelined and what was a Christian festival has become a festival of consumerism. You wouldn't catch other religions not celebrating their religious festivals.
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

Although I don't believe and hate when it's pushed at me I do agree there are very few out there and people who believe should still be catered for , my elderly neighbours I always try to buy a appropriate card for them , I did manage last year to get one at a local Christmas fayre where they were hand made , this year it's been difficult but I managed to get one in The Card Factory . But even then there were very few

My mum likes some religious themed cards for some of her friends.
She is satisfied with a church and choirboys, which I have seen in both Tesco and Card Factory, in packs.
You don't see many individual ones though Clover.

I must say I have had a few cards from friends that are religious and church goers but I don’t get a religious card from them , this year it was a cat in Santa costume from the cat shelter not far away , so does it matter to some and not others , I have trouble getting a card for my friend Richard who lost his wife , you want them to enjoy their Christmas but know it will also be a bit sad I once found a card can’t remember where that said enjoy your Christmas however you can at this sad time but can’t think where the heck I found it

I make my own cards and have a sub to a magazine which nearly always has an appropriate die to cut out a Nativity scene , this year it is tiny and make a lovely card , but I am not making cards this year , no one sends them here in the first year . I hope no one sends me a Merry Xmas ! I hate it at the best of times but definitely not this year

We understand how difficult the first year is Aggie. You must miss Jim.

Aggie - I quite agree, it's a sad, difficult time for you and a card saying 'Merry Christmas' must feel hurtful, as though people weren't remembering your Jim.

We have a card shop which sells a lot of individual cards and I always get cards with messages such as Thinking of you at Christmas, which I hope is acceptable. But this year the very first card I opened was from a friend of many years saying her husband had passed away at the beginning of November. I've tried everywhere to get a suitable card for her but can't find one at this relatively late stage, so I've settled on a card with snowy trees on, no words and blank inside.

Clover - I was going to suggest a Christian book shop, so I've Googled it and there is one in Swansea, if it's any help.

Thinking of you at Christmas seems a sensitive message, or as you say Daisy, a blank one for your own message.

It must be hard for you Aggie.😘

When I go to York there's what I call a 'Holy shop' on the corner before you reach the Shambles. Could I have a reminder to get two holy cards from there please?
