GS2 did well in his nursery Christmas play today . He was the youngest and DD said he sat still all the time even when he saw his mum out there. He did his part and when Santa came queued politely. She said she was very proud and had a tear in her eye.

Gem - well done to your GS2 - what a good little boy. Perhaps he's going to be an actor. xx
GD1's carol concert went very well today. It was just Years 3 and 4, and GD1 was "child 3". Typecasting at its best!! It was held in their local church, and was a traditional Nativity play with "Grandma" telling the Christmas Story to her three Grandchildren (Hence Child 3), interspersed with traditional carols, a brilliant calypso carol I hand't heard before, and Readings by various children. The 'Angels' literally danced down the aisle and there was a wonderful flock of sheep keeping watch. The Three Kings arrived in the minstrels' gallery and also came down the aisle carrying their gifts. As they stood on the stage and sung one King was waving his arms about - more excitement than evangelical, I think, and one of the other (wiser?) Kings stopped him! It was lovely watching all their little faces and seeing their reactions to their big moment.
GD1 said her lines clearly - she was worried as she's been off sick for 2 days and missed final rehearsals.

Both of us Grannies were a little misty eyed. That particular church also has connections for both of us. The other Granny was married there in a blazing heat wave and both children were Christened there. I've photographed a lot of weddings there.

OH & I have since been to GS2's Nativity at the Church nr his school. He did really well. Afterwards he presented his teacher with a leaving gift along with a girl in his class who gave her flowers. His confidence is growing daily. Away in a Manger always does it for me😢

Nana - I agree. Small children singing Away in a Manger, anyone singing Silent Night and the young chorister starts singing Once in Royal David's City in the Carols from Kings on Christmas Eve.

Nana - I see from your photo that you were watching it. I did, too. Did you see that tiny little chorister? He could only just see over the choir stall, bless him.

It's almost like they live in a different world Daisy. The likes of which my GC will never be part of. As long as they're happy, that's all that matters.

Nana - I know what you mean, but I imagine the competition is such that only really talented singers/musicians are chosen for the choir, and I think it's wonderful that they get a chance to reach their potential.
I just wish it was the same for children with other equally great talents, who perhaps don't get the help and support they need to make the most of it.

The family have already been given the dates of GS1's school Christmas play! I have put my order in for the Tuesday afternoon.
GD's school has an Easter not Christmas production for KS2, and I don't know if pre-school have a Christmas play for GS2 to appear in, but it will probably just be for parents if so.
