    Those tubs

I think someone mentioned this on Chatbox, but those tubs of Roses, Quality St and the like are in Tesco at £5

My mum gives several of these at Christmas, but I wait to get them for her as they go down to £4 each for a while.

Yes,Gem, it was either Nana or Mimi that mentioned them.
If we go into a Tesco,i will get some.
Might check to see if Morrisons have them, seeing as they have offered me free delivery on my next online shop.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I know it sounds as though I'm being a sour puss about that event in December (I'm not really, it's just that for me it's too soon to start thinking about it in August!), but both OH and I have become steadily more and more disappointed with both Roses and Quality Street. The taste of the chocolate itself is chemical-ally, the centres don't have much taste of anything, and even whole nuts seem dry and stale. OK, I know I haven't got a particularly sweet tooth, but I used to enjoy a few out of each variety, but if it was left to me I wouldn't get any at all - OH still has Quality Street.

Oh, and what happened to the tin? It used to be useful for all sorts of things from packets of seeds to buttons!

DD2 , when she was pregnant with GS2 told me that on some forum, perhaps Mumsnet, they were saying that the plastic tubs of chocolates were perfect to keep a placenta in before cooking it. For those who are into that sort of thing 🤢

Blimey! I've 'liked' your post, Gem, but I'm not sure 'like' is the most appropriate word!

It was me who mentioned the chocolates , I won’t be buying them any time soon as I know for certain they will get eaten and I will have to buy more . OH seems to think that each year the tubs gets smaller. Remember how big they were when they came in metal tins and not the plastic tubs we have now.

I think they were at least twice as big Mimi.
I only buy them on behalf of my mum, who as she has a steady supply of multi pack Mars Bars all year round, is less likely to eat them and have to replace

If i buy some,it will be me that does most of the nibbling.

Something I've never been tempted to buy....says she running for cover! Makes you wonder as well what preservatives etc are in them if they're still edible by C********!

I remember Hugh Fearnely Whittingstall cooking one for someone's dinner party years ago. <shudders dramatically>
