Do you colour your hair, or is it natural?

I didn't colour my hair at all until I was 38, when I wanted to blend in the first greys. I have always liked my natural colour so saw no need to change things.
I am 60 now, and for several years now I have coloured my hair, to cover the increasing amount of grey!
Mostly I have used semi permanent, repeating every 4 weeks or so. For a couple of years I used henna, blending a brown and red together. It smelt divine and was lovely and shiny. However I eventually got tired of devoting whole Saturday afternoons to staying in with my head wrapped in cling film!!
Semi permanents don't seem to cover my greys for long now, so I think I will have to bite the bullet and switch to permanent. I hate that roots-showing look though!
Do you colour? If you use permanent how to you avoid roots? I can't afford salon prices, so it has to be a home job

Salon prices are ridiculously high and seem to wash out in 4 weeks! I've stopped going and do it myself, but the colour can be a bit flat and too much of one thing. I prefer the low lights of two or three different colours but that means £60! And for something that washes out it is too high a price to pay so I change it from colour to colour. Currently it is brown with a bit of pink!

I coloured my own hair for years,but as Im growing it now it requires more than 1 box of permanent colour.So now I have my layers trimmed and a colour at the salon every 6 weeks. Fortunately she is very reasonable and the whole lot costs about £40. Fortunately as I'm blonde the grey if it gets chance to grow doesn't notice.

That is an advantage the fair haired have over us dark haired ones LibraGran! Greys blend in, but with dark hair they look awful!

I have coloured\bleached my hair since I was 14. I became a hairdresser at 16 and since then I have seen my natural colour (common mouse) twice. It's a bit like wearing a hat for me, if I don't like it I change it.

My hair colour changed after chemo. It used to be quite a nice reddy brunette, when it grew back it was flat brown. I find my grey starts at the roots in a line and because I have a fringe, if I don't colour it it looks like a white hairband. I use a root touch up dye thing. I have my hair coloured about every six weeks or so and sometimes have highlights.

I always coloured my hair, usually auburn, copper anything with red in it. A few years ago when I started to really go grey it used to fade to a funny pinky colour so I stopped. But since growing it from a very short crop to a longer chin length bob I have had some coffee coloured highlights out it. I like it and it helps disguise the grey too

I have been colouring my hair for more years than I care to remember. I would be hard pushed to find a photo of me with my natural colour.
Now my hair would be completely grey if I didn't colour it. For the past few years I have coloured it a sort of mid to dark blonde but I must admit I would like to get out of the whole touch up roots/ colour whole head malarkey but I am not brave enough to surrender to a full head of grey ..... yet !

I put a semi permanent colour on now but that's just in last few years my hair has a lovely silver Grey coming through and I would leave it to go completely Grey but its only my fringe and temple bits so looks a bit odd

I started colouring my hair when I was about 13, always did it some shade of blonde, but haven't coloured it for about 5 years now.Got quite a bit of grey, which I don't mind.
I use A touch of Silver shampoo, I find it stops my hair from looking a dull grey.

I started colouring my hair after my first son was born. Before being pregnant I was naturally blonde and then when I had him it went a mousey brown - yuk. So I have had it coloured ever since. It is expensive but I enjoy spoiling myself ......

My hair colour used to be light red, it is now pepper and salt, I still have a lot of colour in the back. At least I don't have root problems

Your hair looks nice Plant. The drawback of dark hair is it looking so bad peppered with grey! I still haven't made to move to permanent, I must do more research

I love going to the Salon - it is on the ground floor where my DIL has her beauty salon on the first floor. I enjoy the banter with the stylists and sitting having a cuppa and a biscuit whilst being pampered...... I usually go every 6 weeks.
