Do you buy a new Christmas outfit?

When I worked (as opposed to working alone and for myself as I do now) I always bought something new to go to the annual Christmas meal. Sometimes a dress, sometimes a top to wear with trousers.
I haven't done so for years. I think it was something I felt I had to do in those days. Now I will wear something I like to go out with family and friends or to others houses over the festive season, and never buy anything specifically for Christmas or New Year any more.

Yes when I was working, it was considered a 'sin' if you turned up at the works Christmas party wearing what you wore last year.
Now I might buy something new if I see something I like but as I dress more for comfort rather than fashion I tend to be disappointed in some of the clothes offered in high street shops. Every thing is flipping black , especially trousers!

No I wear what I feel comfy in although Christmas day I do try to have something Red even if it's just earrings , when we did works Christmas parties I always bought something new , we don't have that hassle now thank goodness 😊

At work Christmas Do's it was considered the done thing to buy something new nearly always blingy black of some kind,you have to remember I did work alongside "The Cheshire Set" and they have photographic memories as to what was worn the year before trust me.
Now I wear comfy black pants and a white top with a splash of red either bangles or chunky necklace on Christmas Day all covered up with a festive pinnie and chefs hat as I am chief cook and bottle washer at DDs house most years and really enjoy it.As long as I am comfy and my hair is tidy with a splash of makeup I enjoy the day.

Im not a fashion person so no little black dresses for me. In fact can't even remember when I last wore a dress. I tend just to see family over the Christmas period so I just pick up a 'seasonal' top & wear with black trousers.

I only bought a new outfit when we went work do's. Don't bother now, if/when we go out, I just wear what I like and what is comfy.

I have a red cardigan with sequins, very festive, I shall probably wear that but it is quite warm so something a bit dressy underneath. We, that is DD's family are pushing out the boat this year to give her a break, are going out to a very nice pub/restaurant. It is a place we eat in a lot so we know the food will be good. Not sure how many yet but we have a booking for 7/8 atm. Eldest GD was very disappointed as she loves her mothers Christmas dinner.

Oh my goodness AVO go and wash your mouth out. A lady NEVER EVER reveals that she has too many clothes even if she has. Thank goodness husbands and partners are not allowed on here especially mine!!!!

I sometimes do buy an outfit if we are going somewhere like to one of the kids houses or out but I won't this year as we are at home on our own. I will probably wear black skinny jeans, a black tee shirt and my torquoise cardi with appliquéd snow flakes when I visit the children in the morning to give them a present and get them to wave to granddad on the photo phone as he will be working. I also have an astounding lovely thick cream woollen knitted jacket with sparkly bits on so if I need a warm jacket I will wear that. I bought it completely on a whim about a month ago. I should have been sensible and bought the grey one but I wasn't feeling sensible at all!

Last year I wore a red lace dress which I saw in Debenhams for £120 and nearly bought it then BUT two days later I saw an almost identical one in Tesco for £35. As I don't often wear red lace dresses I thought £35 was enough and bought it. I haven't worn it since so it was a good call although it is still a very nice dress.

DD persuaded us all to buy Christmas jumpers three years ago, so we will all wear the. Again this year. They only get worn then so are still as good as new. .

Husband needed a Christmas jumper last year for a work do and I managed to get him one at very short notice. I wrapped it and stored it, just need to get it out when we get back from holiday and wash it in case he wants to wear it again this Christmas. Thanks for reminding me Enfys.

Just smart trousers and top for me usually, with a nice snuggly cardigan if it should turn chilly. No good buying or wearing anything posh when I am usually grovelling on the floor playing some sort of game with the girlies. I now have to decide what to do with all my "office" clothes

LG before I got forced into the secondment my working dress was always suited and booted with heels and jewellery. Pacing the (not so fine) streets of Wandsworth made me reasses what I was wearing and I started to wear chino type trousers and skinny jeans mostly in that eighteen months. I now find that I have a wardrobe full of "office clothes" which I just cannot see the need to wear. Only this week I was going to a meeting and tried on three pairs of "real" trousers that morning and rejected them all in favour of smart black jeans. I do still wear my jackets, I have some lovely ones I must admit.

I should really ditch some of the dresses but I cannot bring myself to. Maybe when I come back from holiday and have a few days free I might have a good look at what is in there. I just always think "what if". Well there won't be any what if I get a new job as I don't intend to do that. There won't be any what if my job changes internally as I am sure it won't as I appear to have fallen off the edge of the world as far as my company is concerned. Anyway I am happy with my chino/jeans, tee shirts and jackets,
