I have just had my roots done a toner and trim and blow dry I have been asking her for months to cut my hair much shorter at the back, she never listens also she us inconsistent I have no products put on my hair she never asks if I want mousse, hairspray etc, sometimes she dries it and smooths it with irons other times just blows it and I am sure sometimes it is still damp. She insists I have my roots done every 5 wks the roots show but not that much and it costs me £ 88 how much do you think is a reasonable price for the same thing , I don't have senior prices I must admit

London prices, well outer London, I pay 90 quid for highlights, full head colour, wash, cut and loads of products depending on what I fancy. I have roots done every eight weeks and pop in to the salon if my fringe gets too long and they cut it for nothing. I think that what you are paying expensive personally. If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

I think you need a new hairdresser Qwerty that is very expensive costs my DD £45 to have the lot done by a stylist at a very swanky salon up hear , and I wouldn't think your roots would need doing that often , although not having blonde hair I'm not sure . My hairdressers closed down they were losing customers as they started charging silly prices , mind you now I have long hair it's months since I went to any hairdresserIm not fat just 6ft too small

We have the mobile hairdresser, she comes every 6 weeks. In fact she is coming next Friday.
Me and hubby just have a trim, only costs £10. I used to have blonde hair, but I did it myself at home.Don't bother with that now.Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I think for the price you are paying your hairdresser should at least pay you the courtisey of listening to what you want Qwerty, sounds like she is just happy to take your £88 and get you in and out imo,and it does sound rather expensive sweetie,my hair is as blonde as yours and I only need to do the roots every 3/4 months I do however use a home dye so all I really have to do is pay for a trim when I go to hairdressers, that costs about £15/20s washed and blown dry but I only have a trim straight across the back length and a trim of my fringe.have you ever thought of supporting one of the local hairdressing colleges they are so good and the stylists are watched by some of the top stylists available so you have no worries, yrs ago when my hair was shorter I went to one and was never disappointed with the result..Last edited by Glammanana; 10-06-2018, 12:12 PM.Keep Calm,You're Fabulous

I go every 6 weeks for a cut and finish and it costs about £32-£35, depending on the day. That seems to be about the going rate for a good salon round here - but some charge about £50 - and there are the old fashioned salons which charge much less, but would probably try and talk me into a 'rinse' and a perm!! It sounds as though your hairdresser isn't doing you any favours, Qwerty, and I'd definitely find a hairdresser who would listen to what you want.

Qwerty, my first reaction is that you are the client, you are paying. YOU decide when you want your roots done!!!
Maybe I should try telling my clients how often they should come for reflexology
I can't comment on price, as I colour my hair myself, and a hairdresser comes to the house every 6 weeks to trim it, and I pay £10“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

I was going to a smart salon in the town and the price kept going up by a few pounds almost every visit. Now go to a local hairdresser who works from a converted rent collection office. He used to run all the salons in Australia for l'oreal but now seems happy with his two stylist set up. He charges me £15 for a cut and blow dry and £15 to do roots or highlights. I used to do them myself but must admit he does a better job! Customers under 60 pay £20.xx

Shem - I think you've found a gem of the hairdressing world!
I think my OH has a good deal. His wood turning buddy is a retired ladies' hairdresser and he does OH's for free because he hates to see it looking long or wispy! Admittedly OH hasn't got much hair to worry about, but his pal makes sure he looks smart!

I'm lucky like Shem I found a lovely hairdresser in our local town, and a cut, blow dry and steaks once every 5 weeks costs me £25 plus a decent tip!
I've been to some dreadful salons where no one listened to me and no one seemed to know how to deal with my kind of hair. I can't take this modern "cutting into the hair" it needs a blunt cut for me to style it the way I like, and will they listen Will theyheck!
The salon I go to is messy and old fashioned but very friendly and helpful and they even offered to come to my home when I was having my surgery to keep me sorted! And they LISTEN!Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go. T.S Eliot
