    Facial Hair

Does anyone else find that as they grow older their face gets more and more covered in very fine, soft, down-like facial hair? I never had anything except those pesky black hairs under the chin but a few years ago I discovered my face was spouting tiny soft hairs! Actually it looks OK, can't really see it under foundation, but it's just a body change that I personally know is there, and I am curious to know if anyone else has the same!

Yes I have very pale soft hairs on my face. If that is all I get I shall not mind.

I wonder if its something in the genes. Mum is in her 90s & she's got lots of facial hair. I have electrosis on the upper lip & chin area every 6mth or so. I've seen a hair removal gadget called a NoNo, but its really expensive & has bad reviews. I've put it down to the change in hormones ...menopause & all that.

I've seen the NoNo ad and like you I went to the reviews and it seems a lot of money for something that doesn't work well for a lot of people.

I had a downy face, I hadn't taken much notice of it until the lady who was threading my eyebrows mentioned it. She then proceeded to wax my face and I have to say it was an improvement. I did spend weeks worrying whether I'd sprout thicker than before fluff but I didn't. Never felt the need to have it done again though!

Funnily enough I was on the bus reading Metro Newspaper this morning. A half page with headline "Bid farewell to your lady 'tache ". They advertise a product called Surgi Cream Hair Remover. I'm going to get some as it boasts to remove 'facial fuzz'. Will keep you posted. 😏

I have always had facial hair and used to bleach it but that is a faff and there are times it looks worse bleached than being there. I have seen the no-no and there are other similar products that do the same and are much cheaper, I think they look like they pull the hair out bybthe root. I tend to use a magnifying mirror and pluck as soon as I see a dark bit. It is mostly upper lip on the left hand side and also a few on my chin but not thick, just the odd one. I swear if I didn't have my wits about me I would have a half moustache! I haven't noticed any downy bits on my skin though if I did I don't think I would worry too much about it.

Princess Diana had soft downy facial hair and it is said that is why she photographed so well, or part of the reason. It reflects light. I've noticed this. Gives your skin a bit of a glow in photos. I'm like you Zizi with the one half a mustache and the other clear! Occasionally I see a really black hair, and it HAS to come out immediately, thank goodness for magnifying mirrors!

when we were in holiday in Barbados last November we got on a bus to go on a trip and husband whispered to me that I had a black hair on my chin. I know he was being kind as he knows I worry about it but that particular day, horror of horrors, I had forgotten my make up bag (Mineral foundation powder, pot of Vaseline, lipstick, IBS pills, emery board, mirror and tweezers). I spent the whole day touching this bruddy hair and being really self conscious. I am sure nobody actually said "did you see that old biddy with that enormous great big black hair on her chin?" But I felt it was the size of Lord Kitcheners moustache and couldn't wait to get back to the apartment.

Once we have had our menopause we have a higher level of testosterone in our bodies and this is what gives us the facial hair . I am lucky because my DIL has a beauty salon and I go and get mine waxed (and I don't have to pay hee hee!).
