    Serendipity

Today I was going to the hairdressers. I did go to the hairdressers.

My appointment was 12 o'clock and I got there a few minutes early. My hairdresser of several years has just had a baby, so I'd booked with a stylist who works in the salon where my regular lady rents a chair.

Twelve o'clock came, and went. The owner commented that the stylist hadn't arrived yet - I was her first client today. But he was sure she'd be along soon. Ten minutes or so later he phoned her - and woke her up. She was 30+ miles away!

He did apologise, just! But said he couldn't do my hair he was too busy, so that was it. There wasn't much point in me saying much more than I thought it was very disappointing.

So I walked down the high street until I got to another hairdresser. They were fully booked. I went round the corner to another one but that had closed down. Back on the high street there was a little salon I'd never noticed before. Apparently it had been there for about 50 years - and it looked it! But I was determined to get my hair cut today, so in I went.

A lovely cheerful lady said yes, they could do a cut and blow dry if I didn't mind waiting 5 minutes or so, and would I like a coffee! So I started to sip my coffee, listening to the gales of laughter coming from the salon.

Five minutes later I was sitting down while the young lady stylist asked exactly what I wanted, spent a good few minutes combing through my hair, looking at which way it grows etc and generally being very thorough, very cheerful and quite chatty in a nice way. After a lovely relaxing shampoo she cut it exactly how we agreed, all the time having a friendly chat.

Guess where I've booked to go next time!

The hairdressers has never been such fun, and I stopped noticing the dated decor after about 10 seconds.

Well there you go Daisy, don't judge a book a book by it's cover.
Pleased you had a good hair experiance.
To be honest i think i would have been more annoyed than disappointed with the other stylist not being there.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Nanto - I was actually very annoyed, but there was nothing to be gained by sounding off to the salon owner, except that I don't think he cared one way or another.

Shem - thanks. Yes, I was very lucky.

Result, Daisy! 😁 I wouldn’t have been too pleased with the salon owner either.

I'm so pleased you got sorted and found a new hairdresser into the bargin Daisy,
I have found it very difficult over the years to find a hairdresser that listens to me and when I do they often leave and move on somewhere else and I have to start all over again.
I don't ask for much as my hair is very long and every 6mths I need a good trim from the length I find it hard to find someone who can cut staright across the back, once when I came home John said it looked as though it had been cut with a knife & fork it was so uneven.

Glamm - it's funny you should say that about not being able to get your long hair cut straight across the back. I was flicking through one of those little magazines you get in hairdressers while I was waiting for the non-existent stylist and noticed one competition winner with just that. Long, straight hair, below should blade length, and cut with absolute precision! It must be really difficult.

I know fringes can be a problem too. Mine sits fairly straight - the only problem is is it grows too fast and I end up looking like an Old English sheepdog!

Well done Daisy. It looks like your previous sleepy hairdresser and the shop owner did you a favour. You now have a brand new hairdresser to start a brand new year.

Nana - Are you still pleased with your 'let the grey shine through' decision? Look forward to seeing the progress.

Sunshine - I don't think the shop owner was very good at customer care. It was like the hairdressers in Corrie - the owner talking to someone else while doing another lady's hair. Not very nice for the lady being 'done' being ignored like that.

I'm loving it Daisy. No hair dyeing since June/July last yr. The back & much of the sides are my natural colour now. Will take a pic to add to the thread later.

It looked fine when we met up Nana.

Blondes are lucky, if I do that I will look like some old hag with strands of grey!!

I never envied blondes, loving my dark hair, but at this stage of life I do.
