    Going grey.

On my last visit to the hairdresser I was booked in for my roots 'doing' but decided to leave it & try to travel that long & challenging road to going grey. The hairdresser said to go 'cold turkey' & to 'suck it up'. 😆So that's what I decided to do. I just had a trim.

So what I've decided to do is to put a pic on here on my progress every so often...a before & after sort of thing.

Nana I think it's easier when your fair it blends in better , but when your dark like me it looks awful , I'm going grey around my fringe and sides it looks like a hair band on me , if it was all over I might be tempted but just a band at the front looks odd 😊
Im not fat just 6ft too small

I stopped dying my hair a long time ago, i quite it grey.
But a few weeks ago,i bought a silver grey dye, thinking it would make my grey look better.
Only it turned my hair blonde. Wish i hadn't used it now.
I need a new bottle of silver shampoo, hope that takes some of the blonde away.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

My OH is blonde, and has highlights every so often, which just lifts it. She hasn't had them for ages, but it looks OK.
I think blondes have it easier, as any greys blend in better than for us brunettes.
We will follow your progress with interest Nana

Good luck Nana. Would you have your hair cut short to get the task over quicker?

Nana - your hairdresser is right, I'm sure, but if you do get fed up there are lots of products you can use at home to help to blend the two halves temporarily.

It's a really good idea to keep track of progress!

I had grey hairs at 18! I used to use semi-permanent colours - all sorts of colours! until I was in my early 30s but by then it was so grey it was easy to stop using the semi-permanent rinses. Having grey hair when you're young is fine - nobody believes it's natural - but later, when the face starts to catch up with the grey it's not such fun. I was quite keen to have one of the pastel colours (like Helen Mirren's pink) but OH was horrified, so I didn't.

Thanks for your input ladies. Grauntie I would love the short pixie style but unfortunately I can't. I love Judy Denche's hair. I have a bald area from a previous benign skin cancer on my hairline. A circle about 2" diameter. The skin there is actually from my thigh.😲

Nan2 what a pity about your hair dye. I love grey hair & at last it looks more salt than pepper. Oma my original colour has almost gone now. It was a darkish brown but over the years it ended up quite light. Gem I know what you mean about it being harder for brunettes. I researched it & some women have just natural streaks of grey. Think they called it the Mallen streak. Love that too as it gives character I think. Daisy I really like your hair ...my target colour.

I have been dying my hair since 1983 , no coincidence that DD was born in 1982 ! she had lots of health problems and I jokingly tell her she made me go grey at an early age.
I used to be a sort of mid brown , uninspiring sort of colour so I used to dye it a shade darker but now as the years have rolled on I have tended to dye my hair a lighter colour and I am now at a light blonde stage as my hair is now more white than grey and to be honest the roots blend in and it looks natural so I don’t colour as often as I used to. I keep telling myself every time I colour it that this will be the last time

Mimi. My OH is 10yrs younger than me. He had dark hair when I met him but is now very grey. He jokes about it all the time. My Mum & Nan's hair was a lovely pure white. 🤞

I have never died my hair, I was a light auburn colour when I was younger but have been what my mother used to call pepper and salt for some time. Some people think I do colour my hair.

To be honest Plant I wish I hadn't started to dye mine. I can't imagine the cost of it all over the years. I just hope that I can ride out the regrowth.🤞

An update. I'm ignoring the dye line. 😉 It's good my hair grows quite quickly. Hairdresser's next week too so it's been without dye for 10wks. Not bad eh?👍
