Our DGS started work again today after being furloughed. He was so happy that he was able to keep his job. They are just working part time at the moment and all are working from home mainly. Luckily he is able to do this, and I think that will continue for quite a while. He will miss his work mates, but they keep in touch with Zoom and hold quizzes and meet-ups online regularly. So pleased for him."Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr Seuss

Enfys - that is such good news, and I'm sure it's cheered you up a little. I think a lot of people going back to work will be part-time for a while. I'm glad he's been able to keep in touch with his work mates, and if they've been holding quizzes etc they must be a close-knit team. xx

The lovely owner of the Florida villa we were meant to have been to in April, yesterday refunded us the balance, having only kept the deposit. I know this is the fair thing to do, but so many owners have not done this.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Sadly we cant if we hope to go next year, which we do. If we could we would just have moved the booking, but they are booked up.
We booked a different one for next Easter, and have so far paid the deposit. Before the balance is due in early January, I hope we will have a better idea of the covid situation for 2021.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

The alpaca place is reopening
I bought GD a voucher for an alpaca walk for her 10th birthday. We had planned to walk in spring after our holiday. Of course like everything else they had to close to the public.
From tomorrow they reopen. I will talk to DD2 and book a date.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

We can go and see my auntie at the weekend
I was very disappointed that we couldn't go, as she is in her own apartment, which we thought would be fine, but she thought we couldn't.
She phoned this morning. My cousin had pointed out to her that we can access her apartment via the garden and go in through her patio doors, bypassing the rest of the building, which follows care home rules.
Visiting her that way is no different to visiting anyone else in their home, allowed now.
Can't wait to tell OH when she gets in.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

KLM have now agreed to refund the money for our cancelled flights to Florida.
Previously they had said only vouchers would be given, against the law, but they insisted.
We applied for them well over 90 days ago. 90 days is the outside time limit given . OH managed to get through this afternoon to speak to an actual person. They now have to offer everyone a refund even those who had applied for vouchers. Another wait to get it, but it seems we will get it!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

That's good news, Gem - but only fair. Why should you be paying for tickets you weren't allowed to use, and a voucher is all well and good, but what if prices have shot up when you book your next trip and you only have a voucher for the March 20 price.
