    E scooters ,

    On Monday the house near my SIL2 went up in flames and it's totally destroyed plus half the house next door ,
    All caused by a E Scooter being charged in a out house attached to the main house ,

    It spread rapidly and the explosion blew windows out of nearby homes,
    Luckily no one was injured and their dogs were rescued unharmed but had to be given oxygen on scene .

    The community has rallied around but these poor people have lost everything because of one of these machines ,
    Plus the people in the adjoining house have lost half of their home.
    It took 3 fire engines to get it under control ,
    These are 1940 houses so I doubt they will rebuild it .

    My SIL2 said the heat and smoke was unbelievable,
    The outhouses were clad in plastic a few years ago by the housing association,
    I presume it had a lot to do with the rapid spread .

    They are scary things , you hear of them causing fires all the time,
    A lot are cheap imports with no safety regulations,
    How they pass custom control is a mystery,
    But I'm sure lots more are every day.

    Oh dear, sometimes cheaper imports are not safe but being cheaper it is tempting for people to buy them.

      Oma, a neighbour of DS1 is with the safety/insurance. He has to always be the first at the scene after the fires have been attended, he told DS1 9 out of 10 of the fires he attends, especially in the cities, are caused by the cheap batteries on E bikes etc!! In fact a few weeks ago a complete home was destroyed just up the road, the 2 sons had taken their fat bikes in the flat to load the batteries.

        Bad enough when they are outside charging but when they are indoors even worse.

          Thats awful about the fires. Something needs to be done about cheap imports.
          Sometimes I forget to like posts,but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

            What an awful thing to happen. It's hard to imagine losing everything you possess in a house fire, and the people next door will have lost a lot, too. Whatever possessed the Housing Association to clad outbuildings in plastic. Thank goodness the people and dogs were ok.

            These dangerous batteries are a worry. Imagine if the battery goes on fire in transit, in a ship or on a plane.

              Obviously not their best decision,
              You would have thought they would have learned from the Grenfell disaster.
              I think it might be reviewed depending on the fire brigade reports.
