    Sculpture

In our little village there was a very large old tree that had to be cut ,
Instead of leaving a stump , the village community commissioned a wood sculpture to turn it into a Eagle.
The eagle is prominent in Washington history and Washington old hall the ancestral home of George Washington's family , they have several stone eagles in the grounds,
It's amazing and attracting a lot of visitors in the couple of weeks since it's been unveiled .

Oma, that is beautiful, and so relevant to your area and history. What a creative way to deal with the trunk of a felled tree. I hope it stands for many, many years.

At college we lost a tree in the great storm of 1987, and the trunk was intact. We commissioned a sculptor to work with second year art students to turn it into a totem pole, and that attracted a lot of interest.

That's beautiful Oma, and lovely way to use the remains of the tree.

Wow that’s magnificent. A felled tree in the grounds of our University has been carved into a dragon. It really is a skill to be able to do this.

Very nice Oma, a few years ago there was a demonstration here in the village, it must have been with the Kings birthday celebration, very clever what they can do.

Isn't that lovely Oma. Amazing what some people can do.

I loved watching the ice carvings when we have been on cruises.

I love watching the chain saw carvers at country shows, etc. They're very clever, but I always watch with myheart in my mouth - one slip with a chain saw ......
