    Spring

After the awful wet winter, the first signs of Spring are so welcome.

Did anyone see the Blood Moon last night? I missed the lunar eclipse, but the moon was too bright to look at directly. Beautiful. It seems we can look forward to some spectacular sunsets too as we get showered in Saharan dust in the next few days.

I find when I'm out walking Eva I keep spotting trees and plants in flower that were just mere buds the day before. A neighbour has a magnificent Magnolia in their front garden. The buds are starting to open and it really is a feast for the eyes. The neighbour and I are keeping fingers crossed we don't have any storms or frost to spoil it. There are quite a few gardens with cherry trees etc in full bloom, and I love to see them. Camelias are looking beautiful - except ours, which looks very sorry for itself.

We didn't see the blood moon.We could see the moon but it just the usual colour.
There is a pink moon on the 2nd April.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Nanto, it didn't look very red from what I could see, but it wasn't it's usual pale colour either.

Our front garden always looks lovely in Spring. We have a beautiful tree which has dark red leaves. Before the leaves comes pretty pink blossom. Just now it's almost totally open.
Next to that a tall shrub which has white blossom at the same time.
I can see both now from my recliner sofa.
Lots of daffodils in bloom as well.

Daffodils out, I only grow the small ones in the border. Great tits have taken over the nesting box. I didn’t fill the pots in the courtyard so I will find some plants when I think the frosts are over. Sil has given the grass a light cut.

Gem, your front garden sounds picture perfect. How lovely.

Plant, how exciting to have great tits nesting in your box. I hope they hatch a lovely brood. Is your courtyard quite sheltered? My OH was asking this morning if we could uncover the frost-tender plants, mainly bananas but I think we need to wait another couple of weeks. I haven't pruned the hydrangeas yet, either. There's so much to do at this time of year.

That does sound lovely Gem. I don’t have a flowering cherry.

I have great tits nesting in the box although it is quite close to my SR window but it is buried in a climbing rose. I have a robin who visits every day, I feed it dried worms but today a fox came and ate them all. Nice and sunny but cool.GD has gone to the school for H but she said they would stay and play around the pond on the green. It is DD’s birthday today. They have gone to London for the day.

Plant, how lovely it must have been that your DD was a Spring baby. It's a lovely time of year to be born. I bet your robin is quite tame if you feed him every day.

Today we've had crows patrolling our lawn. I suppose they were looking for leatherjackets or chafer grubs, but they didn't seem to find much.

The Daffodils are out in force along with the Crocus and on the way to MILs there is a tiny field that is used as a play ground under the trees are thousands of snow drops , they are like a sea of white ,absolutely beautiful.
Our little holly bush is covered in red berries and lots of trees have blossom on,
It seemed one day they were bare the next day they had come to life.

You can almost see everything opening up at this time of year can't you Oma?

Oma, everything seems to be bursting into colour all at once. Our neighbour's magnificent magnolia tree has gone from tight buds to opening in less than a week. Even our rather sad camelia has finally got a few flowers open.

Twenty six wild flowers on the Common in recent days. Sadly, this is the only one I can post as it seems the size of the others is too big.

                            Sun1, isn't that a beautiful sight.

(The maximum size for photos on the forum is 2mb. Sometimes a simple crop will reduce an image to that size, but others need to be resized, I'm afraid.)
