    New scam.

    I received a text earlier

    It said
Hi Sarah, this is the officer that attended.
Please can you send me Conner's nan and uncles contacts .
I will be in touch later regarding a statement.
    Thanks
    PC WILMSHURST.

I have a friend in the local police so I rang him
He said they don't have anyone of that name and they have had several people get the same text ,

They are not sure what the scam is yet but they will find out .

Scams get worse. It seems you can't even trust a policeman now.

I hope they let you know what that was all about, Oma.

He said he would but that's if he remembers,😁

If it's a genuine mistake I assume they will ring ,
He reckons they do this so you reply sorry you have the wrong number then go on to do some sort of scam.
Could be wrong but if others are getting them then I don't think it is a mistake.

Oma, was it WhatsApp? They would need your number for that , plus the permission to use it.

You have to be on your toes now for these scams. Fortunately the media has warned us a lot lately.

Its never ending with scam phone calls/text messages.
                Unfortunately,some do fall for it.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I accidentally answered a cold call yesterday. Usually the landline warns "possible nuisance call" but this didn't, and as it was the dialling code of the hospital I attend I answered it. The voice at the other end wanted to know if I was the home owner and she announced herself as the Energy Adviser for this area. I advised her our energy didn't need any advice and hung up, cross that I'd answered a call I would normally ignore. Not necessarily a scam, but it annoyed me.

I got a call asking if I had any outstanding repairs or mould that they could help me with ,
                    I just hung up ,
Like yours my phone either says scam call or marketing but this one didn't,
Now they are using local dialing codes so you think it's something else.
Even call centres in India are doing it.

Clover, they're such persistent pests, aren't they. I try not to be rude, but sometimes ....

Oma, I don't think anyone should be allowed to use a dialling code from another location, but there doesn't seem to be any control over it.

Lizzie, that is unbelievable. I can't even begin to imagine what chaos it will cause.

I think the whole world is very vulnerable to crippling attacks like that though.

Odido cyber attack: Hackers gained access to 6.2 million people's data

Hackers have managed to break into Odido’s systems and gained access to a file containing customer data for potentially 6.2 million people, a spokesperson for the telecom provider confirmed to NOS.

The accessed data includes full names, addresses, phone numbers, customer numbers, email addresses, account numbers, date of birth, and passport and driver’s license information, the spokesperson said. “No passwords, call logs, or billing information were involved.”
