    Strange noises

My neighbour who's partner moved out last week , she has never lived alone before ,

The night before last she text me late night to say she thought someone was in her garden , could B look over the fence,
So B took a very bright torch he has and hung over the fence and shone it in the garden,
There was no one there ,
He told her to make sure all her doors and windows were locked, and he made sure her gate was secure.

Yesterday morning she said the noise went on till about 4 am.

Then this morning she text to say the same thing had happened again last night and she bravely crept downstairs in the dark to find the cats ( she has 4)chasing each other around , bumping into the furniture and one hanging in the Venetian blinds๐Ÿ˜

    Mystery solved ๐Ÿ˜

She's locking them in the kitchen tonight and making sure there is nothing they can knock over,๐Ÿ˜

It's not easy living alone at first but she will get used to it .

    Naughty cats!

I used to hear the cat door going during the night and be scared when my ex OH first started working away. Also we live in a terraced house then so I would hear distant noises from next door.
I did just get used to it, so hopefully your neighbour will.

Oma, noises can so loud and different at night, can't they, especially scary if. you're not used to being in the house on your own like your neighbour.

I noticed today a FB post from someone in a village near us saying she'd been kept awake all night by a strange noise. Lots of other people heard it too, then a long-standing resident of the village said it was the rough sea. It can be heard apparently when the wind is in a certain direction even though that village isn't on the coast. Apparently it sounded like a large airplane going over, but didn't move away.

When I lived in Sunderland we could hear the fog horns and the distant sounds of the ship yards when we had them ,if the wind was in the right direction.
The sea when wild is quite noisy ,

My sister had the train line at the bottom of her garden with a unmanned crossing and late at night when the goods trains operated they would sound their horn and you heard them clatter of the tracks ,
After a while you don't notice it anymore.

        Gem
        Gat flaps rattle don't they,
We lived in a terrace and sound travels doesn't it ,
I have spent weeks and months on my own when B has been ill,
I didn't like being alone on my old house , but this one I don't mind at all.

Oma, in a funny sort of way I quite like hearing these noises. We can hear trains when the wind's in the right direction. But the noisiest house we've lived in was in a tiny village where our house backed on to farmer's fields and woodland. The nocturnal wildlife often woke us up, and it often sounded like murders were being committed, which was probably true.

I generally didn't mind being on my own when OH was away with his job quite often. The only thing that bothered me was if something went wrong with my car and I had to walk to work.

I donโ€™t like being on my own at night in this property because we have the woods one side and the end of other peoples gardens on the others. Our property is also up a track not on the road. I have done it but not happy. Since my DD and Sil have retired they go away a lot but my GD and H are living here atm. My GS and his partner have said they would come if I was on my own. I would also consider spending the time in one of our nursing homes.

Plant I think that's a good idea spending respite in a nursing home when the family are away,
Especially where your home is situated.

When my DD was a baby we lived by a busy road and all night lorries would go by , then early morning the works busses ,
We didn't even notice them , it was sort of white noise at the time .
