    Leftover treats

Does anybody still have Christmas treats left?

We didn't buy many this year as every year lots get left for weeks then thrown out,

The one thing I did buy was a box of biscuits from M&S they cost £15 ,
Well. What a disappointment they were,
They have cut the size down , apart from the ones with dark chocolate covering they all taste the same.

    Nothing like last year's,
I only really buy them for guests as we don't really eat many.

I know SIL will eat them he will eat anything so I'm giving them to him.

I don't think I will bother next year with them.

Christmas cake. Not a lot though as I froze a big chunk in slices. We would just eat it until its gone otherwise, now we have some for later in the year!

Some uncooked mince pies in the freezer which can be cooked when we want them.

We opened a box of salted caramel cookies last night which are delicious. They will soon be gone

I still have a Terrys chocolate orange which I have put away for now.
OH doubtless has lots of chocolate left as she saves hers for longer than I do!

We have slices of fruit cake in the freezer, simply because we had so much other stuff in.
Still got some mince pies and coconut tarts that i made. They will get eaten though.
We had loads of chocolates and biscuits bought for Christmas, which will also get eaten.
Nothing goes to waste in this house.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

We've finished our small Christmas cake. I've wrapped the larger one to have later/next year. Then a neighbour brought us a large chunk of cake round - really delicious. We've got nuts etc still, some Quality Street. I don't know why as they're nowhere near as good as they used to be. We've also got a tin of chocolate biscuits which are quite nice - mainly for visitors as we normally only have HobNobs and Digestives.

As we haven't had our Christmas get together yet, there are boxes of chocolates and biscuits for various people but they're wrapped up so no temptation to us. I am still buying dates every week. Both oH and I love them.

Have any of you had Quality Street this year. JL have a fill a tin in the time up to Christmas, very disappointing this year. Several favourites missing.

No we didn't bother with them Plant,
Last year DD went to JL and filled a tin with toffees for B , his favourites
But now his teeth are so weak he decided against them this year 😁

Plant, we usually have two or three tins of Quality Street. Between us we like all of them except the coconut ones. But these last couple of years they are nowhere near as nice as they used to be. I'm sure they're using inferior chocolate and cheaper fillings. The best thing about them these days is that the horrible plastic "tins" are recyclable and someone in our road collects them up for Tub2Pub, run by Greene King pubs. Last year they raised nearly £11,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Oma, what a shame OH didn't feel able to enjoy his favourite toffees. I hope he's found another favourite which are kinder to his teeth. xx

We didn't get any this year. Friends brought a tub of Celebrations on New Years Eve, but those were the only sweets Ike that that we had .
