I have started this thread so we have somewhere to report new scams.

I think this phone scam has been round a month or two, but I've had 3 calls in the last hour!

It's a recorded message saying that my Amazon Prime account will be renewed automatically at a cost of £39.99 and to Press 1 to speak to my account manager.

I don't have an Amazon Prime account, but it's a scam similar to the Visa Fraud Department scam where you were instructed to press 1 to be connected. Amazon are apparently aware of it.

We have had that as well.

Only this morning,we had a call on the landline.
Hubby answered and he likes to give them what for.
Anyway,the caller said there is a problem with your internet.
Hubby replied,oh do you want me to send some you some money to rectify the problem.
The caller hung up.

I had this call this morning and was a bit suspicious so put the phone down .I’m glad I did.I wasn’t sure.

Well done, Clover. These things can sound so authentic and they catch you unawares.

That one was a recorded message, but if it's a person on the other end I try and keep them talking for a bit to keep them on line so they're not scamming someone else. You can get quite inventive with some of them.

OH had a text from DVLA saying that he'd overpaid by £113.07 and if he wanted a refund to follow the link to get his refund. Needless to say he hasn't bothered! Just another scam to be aware of.

WeeGranny - thanks for the warning. Sometimes they sound so authentic, especially if you've just bought or sold a car.

Late this evening I received a text message informing me that a fraudulent payment had been made from my bank account.
There was a link at the bottom of message for me to click on, obviously I didn't.
The message hasn't my name or my bank's name within it so it can be sent 100s and 1oos of times to any mobile number.
The text number to look out for is 797 but I suppose that's easily changed by the scammer (s)

As OH went into panic mode , believing that money had been taken out of our account I logged on to our on line banking to reassure him that everything was ok

Mimi there are so many of them at the minute you have to be very vigilant. B was just talking to his Mam about this the other day telling her not to click on anything till one of them checks it out first .
How these people sleep at night is beyond me

Good for you Mimi for being vigilant. I got one saying my tv licence wasn't done properly. OH pays it so I just deleted it.

I had another one this afternoon, this time claiming to be from HSBC bank but with the same message.
I didn't respond to it, I just blocked their number as I did with the first one.
