    GD wanted a bubble bath

GD2 loves having a bubble bath when staying at our house (they only have a shower at home). We have an Airbath which has tiny jets creating lots of bubbles.

This morning I started to run one for GD2, however I hadn't checked that all the jets were clear of limescale from our hard water. So after a minute or so I switched the jets on to check they were ok, and switched it off again. I knew OH was busy on his laptop, so when the doorbell rang I ran downstairs to answer it. Both Eva and Cooper were barking like mad. I shut Cooper in the living room, opened the door to our neighbour who had one of his GCs with him. The GC was quite worried when Eva bounced out wanting a fuss! Meanwhile Cooper continued at full volume. OH shouted from upstairs that he would be down in a minute - or 2. I then helped OH and neighbour to manoeuvre a long piece of wood from the garage into the hall and outside. Cooper's volume increased, and Eva was still hoping for a fuss. Eventually peace was restored and Cooper was joyfully reunited with Eva, and I went back upstairs to finish running the bath. Errr, no. I opened the bathroom door to find bubbles half way up the wall and flowing over the side of the bath in a cascade.

I had totally lost track of time and forgotten that 5 minutes after you switch the bubble maker off (ie when you're emptying the bath) it blows air through the jets to clear them of water. So it works perfectly when the bath is emptying, but this was still filling. Ooops. Thoughts of the story of The Magic Porridge Pot where the mother forgets to tell the pot to stop came to mind.

But every day's a school day, and I learned from GD2 that putting a bit of soap on your hands and smoosching up the bubbles reduces them! When we'd finished laughing, I ran GD a fresh bath, and peace was finally restored.

Nanto, it was a story our GSs and all our GCs loved. It was probably the mental picture of the whole town being covered in porridge!

I used to add local roads and place names when I read the story to them.

The upside - apart from having a good laugh - the bathroom and bath are very clean!!

Daisy, I was with GD's a few years ago in an apartment and there was a bubble bath there, the girls loved me, me, I had such a job getting out, in fact GD2, she must have been 4 years old at the time, was panicking and thought that they would have to get the fire brigade in!!! I did manage to get out in the end but never again, it was kidney shaped, maybe they all are, so many bubbles and slippery to get out of!

Oh, Lizzie, what a frightening experience. Ours is normal bath shape, but the side for getting out is steeper than a normal bath so I always suggest visitors try getting out before they put water in.

Daisy, if I mention it to the girls they still remember.

Lizzie, I'm not surprised they remember. It obviously worried them, and they were obviously sweet girls even at such a young age.
