            Thanks everyone

We had a really good night. We didn't know what to expect really.
We had delicious three course meal, glass of fizz on arrival and good entertainment from the actors. The couple we were with worked out the murderer and means of committing his crime, but I wasn't sure. Good fun and an interesting night.

You pre chose your 3 three courses the week before and the food was all very good. We had paid for the whole night some weeks ago, so the only cost last night was any drinks anyone wanted, in addition to the free fizz and water on the table.
The storyline was very amusing in that we were supposedly on a three day cruise - from Portsmouth to the Isle Of Wight

There were four murder suspects and before the meal and between courses they circulated so each table could ask them questions, and at the end a short session when anyone could raise their hand and ask a question. A detective was the person holding all this together and finally she told us whodunnit how and why.

Gem, that sounds a lot of fun, but I was amused by the thought of a three-day cruise from Portsmouth to the Isle of Wight - it must have been very leisurely.

I've only been to one murder mystery dinner. It was organised by a group of our college's Travel & Tourism students in a local hotel who were also supplying and serving the meal. It was a 20s theme and we all dressed accordingly. The murder/mystery was entertaining and kept most of us guessing, but the hotel let us down so badly with the food - literally not enough potatoes for each guest to have just one, badly prepared veggies and meat so tough you could have used it to resole shoes. We all felt it for the students who had worked so hard, but it was still a good evening and they put a brave face on the problems.

LOL Daisy, that was part of the problem, the captain was resentful at having to be in charge of a ship which only went that far, to cut costs due to mismanagement etc.
I imagined we would have had to travel very slowly and have to circle the island many times

What a shame that the food let down your evening.

                      It does Oma!

They same company is putting another one, Christmas themed at the same hotel at the end of November. The four of us would like to go and are are going to ask if any of our friends want to go and make it our group Christmas meal night.

                        Sounds great fun.

Our son and DiL treated us to a themed lunch at Six by Nico (look it up) where the theme was a murder mystery set in the 20s. We got clues delivered to the table between the six courses and had to work out the modus operandi and the murderer. It was fiendishly difficult but fortunately DiL is super clever and she cracked it.

We have some themed murder mystery games , when we were younger we occasionally took it in turns to host the dinner. All guests were sent an invitation and had to dress accordingly and act the part. They were hilarious fun.

Grauntie, that does sound fun, but quite a lot of work both organising and cooking.

Sum1, I think with 6 courses on the menu, you would have to stay very focused on the clues. Well done to your DIL.
