    The jeans generation?

At the meeting yesterday I noticed that more than half of the ladies, myself included were wearing jeans. Most of them are slightly older than me.
This got me thinking that as we were young in the 60's and 70's we would have worn jeans when we were young. My mum never wore them, not does my auntie (although both are/were trouser wearers) Presumably in their teens and 20's jeans wearing in the UK wasn't common at all.

So, are we just carrying on the fashions of our youth??

I spend most of my life in jeans. I like them with a casual top, like a t-shirt, but I also have some more dressy tops which I wear with jeans for say, a night out. I also like leggings. In the summer I like cropped jeans, or shorts.

Gem, I think you're right - the generation 10 years older than me probably didn't wear jeans for everyday, and wore mostly skirts and dresses. Even trousers were frowned on in some situations, like offices. I don't remember wearing trousers to work in the 1960s. I remember wearing cords to a college I worked in in the late 70s, and the Head of Department commented that they weren't suitable wear for a member of staff. Even today, the golf club where I meet up with friends has a dress code that forbids jean in the dining area.

So perhaps our habits and preferences are set in our younger days and stay with us. Also I think there is much more choice in styles and sizing of jeans now , so even if our waists have expanded a little you can still find comfortable jeans to fit, and lots of different styles.

I have worn jeans in the distant past but not now. I only wear trousers and tops now, I don’t possess a skirt.

Not only have I never, ever, worn jeans, I also hate wearing trousers. I feel ‘bundled up’ in them and always wear skirts or dresses if I can. But I know they’re practical and obviously have some trousers for all my walking and botanical expeditions. They come off as soon as I get home. I wear long skirts in the winter and short ones in the summer. And I hate tights too.
            No idea why though!

Sum1, I hate tights as well. They're either too short in the leg, or so long they wrinkle up. I also find them very uncomfortable.
