When my sister was 16 in 1961 my uncle bought her a lamp for her Birthday ( who buys a lamp for a 16 th Birthday π±)
She hated it but I was always fascinated by it as a child .
No one liked it but it was kept,
My Mother had it on her dressing table then when she died I had it for many years in various places in the house ,
If nothing else it was a talking point.
My DD absolutely loved it so when we moved into this house I let her have it,
It's a Bali lady and over the years she has been painted several times to fit in with DDs decor.
She decided a couple of weeks ago she was going to restore it to it's original state.
It's made of Chalk so it's always been cared for, being so fragile.
she had to put paint stripper on to take all the layers of paint off and start from scratch.
I went online and found a picture of the original and she took it from there,
B went yesterday to fit a new light and flex and it needs a new glass lid as the lady sits crossed leg with a bowl between that's where the light sits.
DD is having to have a new lid made as the original one got broken many years ago .
It's not to everyone's taste but my DD loves her,
Yesterday she sent a picture of it to one of her staff who is Balinese,
She instantly offered DD Β£550 for itπ±
DD won't part with it for any amount of money especially as it was in her Nana's house as she grew up.
βββββββI think she's done a beautiful job especially with the face.
