I really didn't know where to post this , so for now it is here!

I posted about bread pudding on Recipes, and it started me thinking about Joan's sandwich bar where I spent a lot of my student days!
Joan was a lively and funny woman and very kind. She made my ex and me a lovely card for our wedding. Her claim to fame at that point was that she could tear a telephone is half. I am totally sure she could but didn't witness it!

Gem, what a fascinating lady, and what strength of character she must have had to achieve what she did after such a sad start in life. I love hearing about 'characters' like Joan - long may she be remembered.
