    Market research

Has anyone taken part in any market research for payment?

I have done it twice in recent years for ipsos MORI.

I did an easy one which involved taking a satnav with me on all journeys for a week. I aIso filled in a simple online questionnaire every day about my travel.
For that I got a £20 shopping voucher to be spent in many stores including M&S. In store or online.

Last week I did another. This one was more time consuming and I felt I earned my payment!
I had to complete a diary on my phone for 7 days. Just tick boxes but it was in half hour sections! You didn't have to fill them in every half hour, but I tended to do each half hour as soon as I could as otherwise I couldn't remember if I was texting, snacking, talking face to face, doing household tasks etc etc! For sleep you just fill in Sleep then skip through all the hours of sleep.
I didn't mind all that so much but was glad it was no longer than a week. I also had to complete on my laptop 5 questionnaires over the week . These took approximately 25 minutes each. These I found a bind so I have said I don't want to do any more in the foreseeable future.
I did earn £40 in Amazon vouchers though

Gem, I think you more than earned £40 for all that work. It was very time consuming and I imagine the rate per hour was well below the minimum wage.

I've never done anything like that. I did answer questions with a market researcher once. I was working in the front garden and she asked if I would answer a few questions about cars. I told her I knew nothing at all about cars. At the end of the interview, she looked at me a bid sadly and said "you really don't know anything about cars, do you!"
