On one of my regular routes through the Forest I pass a tree which grows from an ordinary single trunk, with a branch growing out of it part way up. The odd thing is that this branch then bends back to the main tree trunk and blends seamless into it again. Imagine a giant sewing needle stuck in the ground, and this would be the eye. The rest of the tree is totally normal.
I've looked at this tree many, many times over the years and have just found out that although it's rare, it's not unique and the phenomenon is called "osculation".
Well, I never!! You live and learn. I'll take a photo of it next time I go that way.
