    The Jar of Lovely Things

    Moving Sunshine's post here

As we start the New Year I would like to share a suggestion that I have been doing for the past few years.

What I like to do is make a note on a scrap of paper (with the date) of ANY positive thing that happens. This can be anything that makes you feel good. It might be a visit from a friend, picking up a bargain in the shops, a beautiful sunset or the first daffodil that blooms. Just write it down, fold up the paper and put it in a jar or container. ( I call this my Jar of Lovely Things.) Over the year, collect all these notes, but don’t be tempted to look at them again until New Years Day next year.

It it is such a lovely reminder of some of the good things that have happened during the previous year. The small things are often the best. I am still smiling after reading my 2018 notes. It is amazing how often the grandchildren feature! I have already started my 2019 Jar of Lovely Things. But remember, all notes must be good things/feelings. No negative vibes allowed in your jar. Good Luck and enjoy.

Always face the sunshine and the shadows fall behind you.

      Sunshine, what a brilliant suggestion
I read about this on a friend's FB page a while ago and thought it a lovely idea. Thank you for the reminder!
I will find a suitable jar to keep them in and make a start

Sunshine, I love that idea. I think I'll aim high and get a large jar.

I bet we'll all have lots of GC reminders.

Must find a jar shape I like first then I'll begin. Thanks Sunshine.🌞

Nana - I've started with just an ordinary jar, but will swap over to a more special one when I find what I'm looking for. Then that will be another Lovely Thing to add to it.

I am just using a (washed!) pickled onion jar for now just to get started and like you Daisy will look for a nicer replacement 🙂

Are you still filling your jar?
I have just put a few notes in after a time of not much going in. Today was my cat sitting in the sun with us for breakfast, and just now having half an hour by herself on the front doorstep watching the word go by. These times for her are golden and go in the jar
I must find a bigger jar though!

Gem - a good reminder. I haven't used my jar since we decorated, and I've a lot of happy things to remember.

Yes, keep filling your jars with notes about lovely things. It will be so nice in January 2020 when we look back at all the lovely things that happened this year.

I found a bigger jar and have painted and ModPodged it!

GS, aged 6 who loves to give me advice has told me I should do what they do (they are onto Jar 2 of the year) They include tickets and memorabilia from days out.
'You really should do that Grandma', was his advice
