    The happy cat

Henry is a fat cat, a fat and happy cat. The vet told them to diet him, which wasn't a great success. Sometimes he has a bit of difficulty grooming his rear end, but he is happy.
It wasn't always so. He was a slim, trim and active cat. He could run, climb and chase. He spent a lot of his time chasing the girls. Those were the good parts of those days.
The bad parts were being out in the rain , being fed outside in all weathers, not being loved, and fearing the approach of a human hand of foot.

    Those days are long gone.

Henry rolls over in the comfortable sunlit patch he has chosen for his afternoon nap, on his owners king size bed. His tummy is full, as he knows it will be again later. He purrs as his owner, passing by, strokes him and tells him he is beautiful.
Yes, Henry is a happy cat!

Gem - what a lovely summing up of a cat who has found his 'place' and is content.

Sum1 - what a handsome kitty. He (she?) is looking very thoughtful.

                He's adorable Sum!
The vets love him, he is gentle and timid, despite being a big boy with not a good start in life.
I am very glad he chose us

This week we said our final goodbyes to the beautiful boy.
We think he was 19 or possibly 20.

For the last 4 years he had been our only cat, a position he seemed delighted to be elevated to! He was a great joy and comfort to us through Lockdown times.
He had reached his end and it was kind but the hardest thing in the world to let him go.
He rests in the garden now.

                  RIP gorgeous boy

Gem, not only was Henry a Happy Cat, he was also a very Lucky Cat.

It's so hard to let our beloved pets go, but it is a kind of 'thank you' for all the love and pleasure they have shared with us over the years. I'm sure if you spend time at 'his' place in the garden you will feel him near to you.

I have two places in the Forest which I think of as Rusty's and Clyde's. Rusty's is a fork in a narrow path which he always reached before me or Clyde and would look back to ask "which way". There was always delight when we chose the longest route. Clyde's 'place' is another part of the Forest, where in the depths of winter and not long after we'd said goodbye to Rusty a yellow brimstone butterfly flew down onto his back and stayed there for a few moments. Much later I remembered that this was the area I found Rusty on the one and only time he got lost. I'm sure you will have a lot of special memories of Henry and his lovely sisters.

RIP Henry. You got and gave a lot of love.
But Gem, he will always have a tender place in your heart. It’s sweet sorrow.
I still grieve for Enid but think of her with love. She was 21.

Thank you both. He will always be in my heart, along with a lot of lovely cats I have said goodbye to over the years.

Gem, I hope you can share that love with another beautiful cat when you feel ready.

But beware, "your" cat will find you. xxx
