    January Sunlight

This poet sees the positive in January

    JANUARY SUNLIGHT

    Michael Shepherd

    January
    and the afternoon sunlight
    lasted that little bit longer
like an unexpected, perfect Christmas present
that got delayed in the mail
and I'm filled with a sheer gratitude
    that somehow passed me by
in long, hot, lazy, selfish, glorious
    summer

    Winter sunshine is always welcome.
What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Getting a sunny day in winter reminds us that Spring and Summer will follow.

Love the winter sunshine, it looks so moody and calm when peeping through the bare branches of trees.
I hate overcast, damp gloomy days .
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

I've just reread this poem of hope about a sunny January day. Who could have imagined then what this year would be like! But at least we've had some glorious weather is more warm days forecast for September!
