    Memory Cushion

This Christmas I couldn't find anything too exciting to give to DD1. So I put my mind to it and finally worked out how to make the Memory Cushion she wanted made of my Dad's shirt and jumper.
    She loved it!
I've just got mine to make now, using his pyjama top.
I'm not sure if this is a strange idea or not, but didn't want to miss the chance if it makes us feel closer to him.

Not a strange idea at all! Anything which bring back memories and makes us feel closer to loved ones we have lost has to be a good thing. A lovely gift for your DD.
I would have loved one made from dads things for myself and for mum, but we gave everything to charity shops, instructed to by mum. She has his jacket but I know she likes that where it is, hanging in the wardrobe.
      Good work GJ!

That’s brilliant GJ. Very clever. No good for me though, I would cry every time I saw it even after 34 years!

It's a lovely idea, I'm sure, but it looks quite life-like and I think that would bother me - but I don't like dolls, waxworks, shop mannequins or even dress-makers' dummies. They all spook me!

It was quite easy to make, just a bit nervous cutting the shirt, as it was the only one we kept.
I think I will shed some tears when I've made mine, as it was the last top he wore, when I hugged him last.
Apart from the one he was wearing at the end.
May be that's why I've still not made it.

I've made memory bears & stuffed animals from 1st baby clothes but not a memory cushion. It's good you can give this type of comfort GJ's.
