GM - I'd love to see some photos of your work.

I presume you sell your work, it sounds like a cottage industry.

Will post some when I get home tomorrow Daisy.
I did think about selling but when the pressure is on it takes the pleasure of making away Plant. Plenty of gifts to make though.

Nana, I found that Bernina was the favourite with my Embroidery Group.

I used mine for the first time in over a year to alter my new PJ;s this morning ,
Found it really difficult to thread the needle even with my glasses on ,

I always made all my own Curtains , Cushion covers even Duvet covers ,
Made mine and children's clothes for years but find I don't have the joy of making stuff as I used to and sometimes its cheaper to just buy stuff,

Grauntie I know what you mean about selling stuff , when I did Egg craft I had lots of orders and it went from being a pleasure to a chore , Quail, Hen, Duck & Goose eggs were not so bad but Ostrich eggs take a lot of work and are expensive to replace if you break one while cutting , and working to deadlines was stressful .

Will ask about egg craft in another thread Oma, I'm intrigued. Meanwhile, back at the ranch....

They’re lovely GM. Are you keeping them or are they gifts?

GM - they're beautiful, and look very expensive and upmarket. What a clever lady! Thank you for showing us. where do you get your inspirations and ideas from?

I know what you mean about selling things. OH has made loads of bowls, candlesticks and all sorts of things with his wood turning, all just for his own enjoyment and we've given a lot away to friends and family, but a couple of weeks ago a friend 'commissioned' two sets of 3 candlesticks. OH had made some for him as a thank you for some help he'd given us, and he asked if he could buy 2 more sets to give as presents to people. This put OH in a difficult position, so he suggested a modest sum for the two sets (6 candlesticks) and he has been in the shed every spare minute for nearly a week working on them, and really feeling under a bit of pressure. He keeps asking if me if they're ok so far and he's worried that the friend might not like them, as of course, they won't be exactly the same as the previous set, and are different from each other. It suddenly doesn't feel like so much fun! I think the amount he will have 'earned' won't even cover the cost of the electricity he's used, let alone the cost of the raw materials and the candles to put in them, and certainly not his time!

Thank you for your kind comments. I still think it seems a bit like cheating though. 😁
Clover, only the Christmas scene is a gift, the rest are in the house. I have downloaded some more Christmas patterns to make gifts with but no time just now. Hopefully next week.
Daisy I can understand how OH feels. Someone asked me to make 3 fairies for one Christmas, all themed. It took for ever. Never again. I make them as gifts for friends now, if at all.
                            A lesson learned.
Nana, have you made your decision yet?

Oh Grauntie. Thanks for asking. I'm sad to say the machine idea has flown out of the window, as they say. Went to Vision Express yesterday & after all the trouble with my eyes my OH said to treat myself to a new pair of varifocal specs. I'm not bragging about the cost of things (I'm not like that) but in the end with this & that added they came to as much as the machine. My sight comes first so I'll have to wait until someone wins the lottery.

Your helpful posts aren't wasted tho ladies as hopefully I'll get one when I've saved enough money to get one. Not cheating using one Grauntie cos that's what they're made for...set it up & off you go. Free to do something else. Thanks for all your help everyone.

Glasses are so expensive aren't they Nana? I was shocked when I got my Varifocals even with the 25% Over 60's discount with Boots opticians.
I hope you get your new sewing machine in time
